Is it possible to DPS properly with higher ping?

By higher I mean around 250. Anyone here able to do that?

Never really tried it, but I'm not gonna bother if it's not possible.

If it is, what class is more advisable?

250 is pretty awful

I honestly don't see how you can properly play anything with that, assuming that's your consistent ping. You have more patience than I do to play at that number. I don't think I could put up with that.

As long as your ping is consistently bad then you can dps with a bad ping. The problem is you need to learn the light attack timing with a bad ping. If your ping fluctuates a lot then you won't be able to do the rotations properly.

It's just consistently the same coz overseas

tank and healer are completely playable at this ping but I'm kinda bored of just making these two

The higher the ping, the lower the DPS.
The 40K+ DPS is extremely hard to impossible at 125 latency.
Sadly, that's why some of the harder content is "closed"(unnecessary guild requirements) to players who are too far from the server.

I have a hard time doing well on nights when my ping is over 200. That being said, @swaggasm is proof that high ping can still pull very high DPS.

Eh you only really notice it if you play as DPS.

I really have no clue how you can say that. Anything over 200 is just awful for me. I hit moves and nothing happens. I"ll heal someone and it'll be like 5~10 seconds later before I actually see the heal taking place.... I'll try to break free nothing happens ... can't move out of dangerous AoE because your guy is too busy playing catch up. It's terrible.

Really don't see how anyone could put with that kind of delay all the time. It would drive me nuts.

It's possible to dps with high ping. I've seen many players in South-East Asia, Australia, NZ etc pull 50k+ plus on dummies and much higher in trial content with that ping.

A minority, most players can't pull this DPS with high ping.
Also, they may not be completely honest regarding where they are from.

Depends. I can pull my normal 35k dps as long as my ping is constant. The moment the things goes crazy as in down to 100 and then up to 999+ I am screwed. No matter how hard I smash my buttons the game pretty much ignores me.

It's fun in trials when you want to light attack or use a skill of block or dodge roll and the game is just 'Nope! You shall die now!'

A minority.
Also, they may not be completely honest regarding where they are from.

I have to laugh at the idea that all the players who I play with, that have Aussie and New Zealand accents are playing at crazy hours just so they can lie about living in a high ping timezone.

And yes high dps is a minority, but that's true regardless of ping.

Yes, you definitely can reach decent level of dps with higher ping.

I play from South Africa and regularly play with between 220 and 250 ping, both my Magsorcs (pet and non pet variations) are able to hit 45k+ consistently, it suffices for all vet content.

The latency is annoying, yes, but it doesn't mean you cannot hit decent numbers.

Now anything above 300 and it may be a different story. 300 is where I find things start to get pretty bad.

I used to pull 35k dps a year ago without cheese.... now could be around 40k but didnt test it lately

It is possible 250 is not that bad

I have more around 350

I pull more on a better connexion but the lag makes you anticipate more which makes you better in the end

I play around 250-300 and when i use things like Rapid Strikes or Javs, HA lightning staff (most channeled abilies) everything around my character freezes for 1-2 seconds. After im dead or all the damage i did during that time appear in the screen at once.
Also when ping goes red and im Weaving abilities some are not landed correctly making me loss that second meaning less dps overall.

I mostly play my Healer and a Werewolf and everything is much more enjoyable. Soon i will start a Tank so hope it goes well.

@Ravena for what its worth I can parse over 50k on a dummy with 250-280 ping and I'm playing a magicka warden. If you really feel like your ping is holding you back, try a HA attack magsorc build, plenty of them can be found on YT.

OP I wouldn't take anything posted in this discussion for granted.
Many forum members are not what you would call average players, especially when it comes to the DPS xD

The bottom line is that 250 latency will make it harder for you to pull good DPS.
Some can manage with high latency and pull higher DPS, but they are few in number.

Most just can't pull high DPS while having higher latency no matter how hard they try.
Though it depends on how high you think of.
35K at 250 latency seems exceptionally hard, 40K-50K not in the wildest dreams.
For 250 latency, 20K-25K DPS seems more reasonable for most players.

With 270-300 ping and only three divine pieces on my armor with relequen and ay on my stam sorc I can do 35k with no raid buffs/debuffs and an imperfect rotation so yes it’s possible.

I play at 250-300 ping.
Can only do 30-32k dps on 3mil dummy.
And I cant do weaving on this ping.

I already accepted this limitation.

I think my ping roams around between 180-250 and I parse 42k on a 3 mil dummy without any vma weapons.

I cant tell if you are intentionally trying to bait people or honestly believes that people with high ping cant pull decent numbers.
As long as you have a consistent ping it is definitely very possible to pull 50k+ especially if you are willing to put in some time practicing rotations and weaving. i play on a pretty consistent 300 ping and can very comfortably hit decent numbers, only time i ever struggle is when my ping is spiking into the thousands. And i know MANY other players who are in a similar situation.

your "20-25k dps" is complete *** anyone who is willing to put some work into get decent gear and improving their rotation can very easily pull significantly higher than that.

I’m not a hardcore player or anything and do not do trials, nor have trial gear, just crafted and found gear, but I can do 35k DPS on the 6 mil health test dummy in my house.

I’m in Australia and have a ping constantly between 350-400. 250 is good for me.

I’m trying a hybrid build at the moment for fun and was able to do 23k after just 1 day of trying with skills that are not fully levelled and weak gear.

I’m sure if I had the best gear and all the right buffs and I knew a bit more about what I was doing I could easily get a lot higher.

I don’t think it’s impossible with the high ping. It is a bit frustrating at times when attacks don’t fire, but i think you could get decent numbers. Again I am really not a hardcore player at all.

CURRENT MY KPS (KEY PER SECOND) IS 130MS PER BUTTON PRESS.

SO I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN MY KPS IN ORDER TO MATCH MY 300MS PING.

THIS MEANS THAT COMPARE TO SOMEONE WITH 150MS PING, I WILL PRESS 1 KEY LESS EVERY SECOND.
