Really struggling to weave well in dungeons. Can weave fine on Dummy.

Hey guys, does anyone have any tips that helped them with weaving? I can do like +.8 la/s on the dummy, parse really well (considering my gear) feel great, then I go into a dungeon and i'm hitting like ..2-.4 la/s . It seems like I just can't find a rhythm when trying to weave in real world places. Sometimes I seem to be doing well and then lose it, and can't get it back.

Anyone have any tips that may help? I feel like it's the spell lighting effects and the sounds that may be screwing me up. When I'm on a dummy, i can use the weird sound elemental weapon makes to sort of time my weave better. If i turned my settings way down, might this help? I dunno. Just wondering if this is a thing for anyone else.

is adrenaline causing you to push a little to fast? Moving targets, hit boxes on the target. I notice on chudan who is a huge target at times I can't find hitbox on him. could also be lag I guess. I would suggest slowing down a touch, and making sure you are actually targeting what you are trying to hit.

Welcome to the difference between a stationary target that doesn't fight back and the real virtual world where *** happens.

It's even more fun for us who like to solo group content, now all the sudden you also have to block, dodge, heal, buff, debuff, shield, do damage and stay out of red all by yourself.

Dummies are fine to practice and get a basic feel for a setup and rotation but i have never ever soloed a dungeon with anything close to a perfect rotation.

To me, that's part of the fun, actually ...

Yeah I realized I had a problem when I parse 30k on dummy, but on last boss of BC2 I was struggling to stay above 10k...

@SirAndy is correct. Being on console I don't have access to combat metrics etc, so it's old school stop watch and burn the dummy lol (literally use my 100 year old pocket watch).

I've found as my dummy parses get better, I tend to actually do more dps on single target when soloing dungeons, but if the boss has adds it drops quickly.

Key is to be disciplined in your rotation, which is what I use the practice dummies for.

Practice your Rotation, get it nice and clean.

Gear up, have some pots (resource or tri, tri may be helpful if you don't have a class heal or hot slotted and spammable.

Now, for the fun part -- set your dungeons to Vet *yes, I said Veteran, not Normal*, and go to one of the following: Volenfell or Vault of Madness.

Volenfell is the easier of the two, as VoM has a few mechanics that if your self heal isn't high enough or your HoTs aren't strong enough, the bosses will keep nuking you, so maybe start with Volenfell.

Now---solo it. I'm not joking. Stamplar and Magplar can manage this pre-50 or fresh 50 with level appropriate gear. You're responsible for all of the mechanics and mitigation on yourself, so no one to blame, and unlike Dummy Testing, which really isn't much of a metric except that you can be a button monkey, it gives you a live-combat situation to deal with. Use those fights to see what you parse at, and analyze if your build is more suited to single or multiple target damage. Adjust to what you want to emphasize accordingly, and repeat.

Maybe you won't hit 50-60-70k DPS...but having the ability to put out a consistent 20-30k and not die to stupid all the time is a valuable skill.

even on consoles dummys tell you your DPS, in the chat.

To OP: instead of aiming for numbers on the dummy, practice your rotation on the dummy. As fights might differ, but rotation stays the same.

I didn't know about it in chat... I can't get my chat to work consistently, in fact right now it won't even let me turn the options on in settings. Is xb1 different than PS4?

it should show in all chats. PC, Xbox and PS. it's a function they put into the dummy. How to open chat on console I cant help with =/ PC player so no clue xP have you hid it in the corner? or is there any settings for chat on consoles?

I recently bought the arena and I'm wondering if anyone has put a target dummy, or several, down with the traps and tried to see how much they get with all of the traps turned on?

Ive gotta say I've thought about trying it but Ive never used a target dummy before. Where do you get them? Are they all crafted?

Let me guess, you are using Relequen & AY yes?

Those 2 sets do not work but on 2 bosses. On all the rest are crap sets to use given that you can get better results with more persistent sets and also support the team on trash fights. Try Briarheart/Ravager or Automaton (Templar & Sorc only) with Leviathan and Lover mundus (on vet content, on normal content you pick). And pick a mask of your own choosing like Stormfist, Selene or Mephala.

Let us know after that how are you doing on "real" content and not the stupid dummy.

I just happen to be learning the same thing you are learning now OP. Last friday, I got into a raid group and did a group parse. Mine clocked out at 47k. But, I too also ran into the same issue you had with the first boss of vSO.

But the answer to that is what the rest of the posts have said, it's practice and learning the mechanics.

For me, the popcorn/earthquake mechanic on the Mantikora can be tricky for a Stam DPS like me to pull off high numbers on because I am continiously dodging this/looking for this attack, while also not getting hit by the cleave and other attacks the boss has.

Think of DPS as a chart, with lines drawn on it that look likes waves. They go up, they go down. This is how DPS works in dungeons and other group content. So sometimes it is completely fine to be doing 0 damage. But you best be absolutely sure, you're doing the mechanics right and not dying. Your group is counting on you to help them through the boss.
