considering the devs have decided that magicka steal is such a worthless skill that it should bear no cost why do stamina player's not even get the option for stamina steal? Is this some kind of stam vs magic never ending struggle for power that I'm completely missing?
Stamina skills are on average cheaper than magicka skills, by roughly 20% less if I am not mistaken. While stamina steal would be cool, it would likely overperform.

This is a pretty tired argument. Although I don’t think that Stamina steal is necessary, magicka classes also have far larger magicka pools on average and high recovery values. In general, having played most classes of both specs, I don’t find it any easier to sustain on stamina especially when you take dodge rolling into account, which isn’t cheap. In PvE sustain seems fairly equal between both specs however in PvP I think magicka classes have better sustain in general, especially those who can use ele drain, because magicka steal often applies to groups from a single skill. Many magicka classes in PvP can also operate with lower sustain values than stamina classes. For example my brother plays a magicka Templar and can operate very well with about 1300 mag recovery while on my Stamplar I need approximately 1700-2k stamina recovery. We both have similar wpn/spell damage tooltips and respective stats. I might be getting a tad off track here but I think with the RAT changes, magicka might actually be more appealing in general in PvP in a lot of cases for the first time in a long time and that actually stamina steal wouldn’t be OP. In PvE I’m less convinced of that but if there was ever a time when stamina steal might not be that OP it would be now. Although I’m not sure how it would be implemented and there are lots of other more important things to look at.
From every thing I see, with the nerfs, buffs, crying and whining over which class is the strongest. When it comes time to nerf stamina toons it seems to be at the cost of sustain. Only been playing for a year have read many posts. I don't believe old arguements should equal dead arguements. I only know from my experience which is on, ps4 na, so I don't have access to all these timers pc players have access to. It seems to me that everything about the combat in this game be it Pvp or Pve revolves around end game players on pc who can build and run these op builds because of the add on. Sure some of them can problably turn them off with little effect but I'd bet not most. Considering builds that have 8s dots, 12s dots, 1.3s ele weapon odd buff timers etc.
I'm by no means the best player, probably above average pve and absolutely aweful pvp. I notice on either magic or stam toons if a fight lasts roughly the amount of time it should I have little or no sustain issues. Now if the fight takes longer than it should or mechanics cause me to have to roll dodge or block excessively restart rotation because boss moved across room, bang resources gone on stam toon, mag toon ready to fight with full pool because they don't lose resource return while blocking and they have easy access to three sorts of mitigation ie shields, blocking, and dodge that do not cripple their resource recovery. Heck they've even got a shield that returns magic. Plus magicka steal which equals 3 gold enchants plus major intellect.
Anyway I didn't say it had to be "free" put a cost on it, also didn't say it had to equal magicka steal at 300 per second. Just think it should be an option or give us stam recovery while blocking. We're not all permablock tanks here.
This is what I'm left with because servers are down during prime time.
force siphon and morphs need an update^ +in six mo ths we'll have a unique ability weapon for it.
On the topic of stamina steal, i would love it, and imo, it should go in force siphon! stamina management on a healer would be very helpful, but i get that it would make tanking a lot easier
From an outside perspective just thinking about how skills in MMO's should operate, usually melee is associated with lower resource demands due to the high risk high reward playstyle that melee offers. Magic or ranged abilities are typically associated with higher resource demands due to the obvious advantages that they possess.
This general idea is semi-consistent among ESO skills; however, the fact that magicka users have access to this very strong sustain tool completely turns this concept on its head. Some magicka classes that reap the benefits of melee range sustain demands can take advantage of this to spec fully into damage and tankiness! This is an issue, stamina needs access to minor stamina steal to level the playing field. A great start would be perhaps to add this ability to expert hunter and mark target!! =D
From a healing POV, Magicka is restored with Minor Magickasteal, and Stamina is restored with a Master Resto Staff. There’s also Sentinel of Rkugamz, but I’m not a big fan of that set personally, and prefer Symphony of Blades (which can restore Magicka and Stamina).
Minor stamina steal would be a nice addition with ele drain tbh but I noticed even with breton race, magicka classes are in life support in terms of sustain, and I mean all classes, some are worse than others
Rkugamz does alleviate the problem a lot though, so idk
Most melee spots for end game pvp are already taken by stam specs, since they do more damage with the sustain they already have. This would further be amplified with stamina steal.
Not to mention, stamina based weapon heavy attacks are quicker than magicka weapons. That may play a reason for a lack of stamina steal as well
