I've never seen a online game to have higher ping than fps in 10 years. I'm running on GTX 1080ti with 32GB RAM @ 2667MHz and I7 8700k OC at 4.7GHz ,game installed on Intel P700 M.2 SSD @ 3.1GB/s and 360MB/s fiber internet. Game on max settings with low shadows and water reflection, distance set to 80.
I get it that the engine has it's limitations and we're never gonna see full components usage, even at 3440x1440 res.
But where are these servers ? Tahiti? Philippines ? ... USA ? What's the point in EU community if It's US ping.

✭✭✭✭PINGDepends. If I've been put in a good instance my FPS is around 80-100, ping 60-80. But usually, especially in PvP I won't see my Ping drop lower than 130. Don't get me started about bigger battles or stuff.0 -

✭✭Because not very many other games you've played probably use Akami's service. ESO has been using a DDOS protection service for awhile now, so your packets get routed through them first, before they get routed to ZOS's actual game server. Without that service, that would be less hops, which would probably subtract everyone's ping by around 30ms on average (just a guess).1 -

Even if I tried to que for BGs all evening and I keep getting offer to join, but "someone has declined invitation" for 20 mins, got tired and farmed some random stuff.0 -

Trials I average at 160 for no reason at all. With Las missing, skills not firing. It's terrible.
They MUST get rid of this akamai. Potentially it routes us over NA. Artificially increasing the latency and lag. I ping Frankfurt around 30ms. Eso though, 3x that or higher when in trials or dungeons.
As long as they keep akamai, these issues will persist.
In BDO I had 30ms on average. Their server is in the Netherlands.
