I have a question about the Summerset expansion purchase options on Steam.

Hi guys. Hoping you can help me out here. When I purchased ESO a few months ago on Steam, (Steam chosen because a friend gave me gift card for Christmas), I decided to pick up The ESO Collection bundle.

This is the bundle that comes with the base game, Summerset & Morrowind chapters, and the Orsinium, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood & Imperial City DLCs.

The included chapters are the base chapters, not the collector's editions.

Now as many of you know, the Morrowind collector's edition content is, or at least was, available to buy with Crowns in the Crown store now. So through that purchase, I have since acquired the Morrowind collector's edition content.

I was just wondering. If I were to buy the Summerset collector's edition upgrade on Steam today, would this successfully add the collector's edition content to my account, or would I not be able to purchase it as I already own the base Summerset expansion?

I will also be submitting a support ticket to ask ZOS themselves about this, but decided to make this thread for the off-chance it receives a more immediate response.

Thank you.

Yes, you can buy the Collector's Edition even if you already own the base content.

What happens is you get a warning that says you already own a portion of the included content, and you can still purchase the Collector's Edition at regular price if you want to proceed. (In other words, you're being warned that you're about to pay for content you already have and that you won't get a discount for the portion you already have.)

Back when I bought ESO two years ago, I got the base game, plus the Guilds & Glory bundle, plus the Morrowind Digital Collector's Edition, so I didn't get any of the additional stuff (mounts and pets) from the Collector's Editions of the DLCs.

Over the next year whenever there was an event for a particular DLC and the store had it on sale, I would buy the Collector's Edition of that DLC so I could get the mount and pet-- not that I even use mounts and pets much, but the sale price of the Collector's Edition was cheaper than buying the pet and mount separately.

The Crown Store always let me buy it anyway (at the full sale price), but gave me the warning first.

If the Crown Store says you need to buy the Summerset Digital Collector's Edition through the Steam store (due to wanting you to spend Real Money instead of just Crowns), and if the Crown Store acts like it doesn't want to let you buy it because you already own Summerset, just contact Steam Support or whoever to explain what you're trying to do, and they should be happy to take your Real Money and sell you the Collector's Edition.

I appreciate the time you've taken to write this. I've bookmarked this thread so I can refer back to it.

    Thanks.

I would guess it's very very likely that the summerset collector's edition items will be added to the crown store when Elsweyr releases though, so holding off may prove to be a better option.

You know that's a fair point that I hadn't thought about.

How long did it take for the Morrowind collector's content to hit the crown store? It was already in the store when I joined, long after Summerset came out, so I don't know when it was added.

Morrowind Zone DLC, the Morrowind Collectors items,, and the Warden class went immediately to the Crown Store the moment Summerset was globally released.

Probably the same will happen when Elsweyr releases.

The Morrowind DLC will be available in the Crown Store on all platforms starting on June 5.

Summerset was released first on PC and then on June 5 on console (global release).
