Will we ever get more weapon types/skill lines?

I’ve been hoping for a one handed melee since I picked up the game at console launch as s&b doesn’t work for dps are to big with the newest chapter we will have had two new classes but no new weapon lines of any kind.

While I personally welcome new classes i feel more weapon options would be much more impactful for me.

I just want melee weapons to scale with magic and stamina 🙏

I hope so, Ideally 1 hand+Rune and unarmed. They don't even have to make many other art assets! Just the skills and effects!

It’s only a matter of time.

The wonky “heavy attacks restore resources” mechanic necessitates the eventual introduction of a magicka-melee weapon. I have two characters waiting impatiently for it, one of whom ONLY uses melee (stamina) weapons. It makes for an intereesting challenge.

I must be in the minority, because I hope not. Obviously, if you want to run solo stuff, all is fair game. But coming from a strictly end-game group PVE content perspective, we already have so many weapons that are unused:

Ice Staffs: other than for tanking, they only serve to upset tanks
Axe: used to be great, still okay, but outshined by daggers
Sword: other than to use with a board, why?
    Mace: Why????
    2H: WHY????

Obviously, you can use more stuff, like 2H weapons and maces, in PVP. What could possibly be added that would be used? A net and trident?

As is most every developers MO, Whatever is new will likely be over tuned on release such that it would supplant the existing meta, and then be reeled in to a more reasonable level once the numbers came in. New carrot for endgame means its gotta be viable for something.

Totally agree. But I would rather have them revamp the existing weapons loadout than introduce something new that would just superficially change the rankings.

It has always baffled me that the only realistic use for a frost staff is for a tank and not a magic-based character. It doesn't make sense. Or that fire, ice, or lightning-specific builds are discouraged, in that for damage dealing, fire is king. For melee, I get that swords, maces, daggers, and axes all do different things. And there will always be a top dog. But one weapon being the top dog over all stamina classes is a bit much.

I am not pushing for cosmetic diversity over actual diversity, but it would be nice if a mace was as viable as a dagger, albeit in a different way. To a point where you could build around the weapon and be able to bring something different to the group PVE table. Such as a StamDK could dish damage with a 2H in a fashion that was competitive with a Stamblade with daggers and a Stamplar with swords or maces. I'm not a huge lore guy, but doesn't this make more sense?

    Just thinking out loud
