They have the bonus over just a DOT that they leave a corpse which can be used for other spells.

Summoning a necro pet that disappears after a minute or two (don't know the time yet) is really just casting a DoT that you get to watch on the screen. Never been a fan of that kind of pet.

If they are targetable though I can see them having good use

Based on this it seems you would like the necromancer to be like a sorc with reskinned pets.

I think it is great Zos is not making the necro to play like a sorc or warden. That it will have it's own feel. Of course we will have to see how it plays out because beyond that it is just speculation.

Sort of , in that magicka sorc uses pets and a curse. I want necro to be a pet class that uses curses, poison, defilement, lifesteal, DoTs and maybe even a lich ability. Summon a few skeletons, summon some zombies, raise some NPC corpses to do your bidding, curse your enemies, leech their life, and attain lichdom.

Necros seek to master death and the undead and what greater achievement in pursuit of that than becoming undead? Lich is the highest power a necro can hope to attain.

    I agree with you.

At least these pets will not clog up crafting areas in town. Hehe :)

Honestly...I got two Sorc. But I wish their pets would dispel on entering a town. Same with Warden big Brown Bear.

I also like that Neckros can not duel in town without being chased by Guards. I just wish this
would apply to every class. Only fair now...me thinks. Why should Neckros be singled out?

And yes...I misspelled Necro by purpose so someone can say something about it.

    Good luck to us all

this isn't true for necros! the corpse left behind afterwards is an additional gameplay mechanic for them

The only difference between temporary and permanent pets is that temporary pets are DOT's with a timer.
The only difference between a DOT and a pet is that you can not purge the pet, you need to kill it (or it's master) if you want to get rid of the DOT.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

That's funny and I assume you're just saying it for the joke.

Pets are not like DOTs, because they can't be purged and they can't be suppressed by cloak. In fact, if they are anything like current pets, they'll chase after NBs in cloak. I doubt the templar purge will do a thing, but I bet a negate may get rid of them. Of course these are purely my guesses.

The best Necros I've recently played were GW2 which is a Necro that is effective with ir without a pet build or a number of pets in between and Age of Conan, with a Necro which actually had an army of undead, haven't seen anything like before or since. The Warden in ESO is more of a Necro with the option to have a grey (as in looking undead) bear pet. My vamp warden runs around with an undead bear pet.
