One of the things that annoyed me with Crushing Weapon with 2H on my Sta Sorc, is how long it takes for the animation to complete and to the hit.
If we try to cancel the animation, the following LA half the time doesn't apply the buff.
So I went today, logged in PTS and tried to test it irl on Gold Coast who has some hefty HP mobs (Minotaurs), and not on a dummy, which is kinda "controlled environment".
My setup was Briar + Levi + Lover mundus and tested with Mephala monster as it doesn't proc until we do a heavy attack, and normal blue food. (Stamina Necromancer).
The targets were hit ONLY with Crushing weapon + LA nothing else.
DW (daggers precise ), 2H (GS precise), S&B (dagger, sword, mace).
Hit 5 Mino shamans (since they are stationary), on each weapontest. (took some time because there aren't that many).
DW did the most damage, avg 15000-16000 dps.
2H did 11000-12000 dps
S&B (dagger, sword, mace) 13000-14000 dps!!!!
Afterwards trying to use Pierce armour some times, but doesn't affect dps, as Lover over penetrates normal overland content, so not included on metrics.
I went also to just for fun hit some lions. All 3 weapons did over 20000 dps on 31.4K enemies. With DW & 2H two-shooting guaranteed.
I know doesn't prove much, but I believe everyone who tries to use crushing weapon with 2H feels that the animation is too long compared to the other 2 weapon types.
Hence the DPS falls significantly even behind the S&B!!!!!
Can someone else give it a try by just using CS + LA on their respective classes? Should we ask ZOS to look at the animation of Crushing weapon in relation to 2h weapons, taking too much time to apply, due to animation, considering that should be an instant cast?
Surprise attack, Carve, even Reverse Slashing, which can be used as "spammables", have much much faster animations, which allows the followup Light attack to land faster.
And in some cases, Carve in PTS is more preferable as spammable than Crushing Weapon.
