What are the chances of not getting an inferno maelstrom staff after 60ish runs?

What thoughts i have got after reading such posts.

    1) Make vMA weapon parts (or smth) as reward (quest item or currency). Each vMA completion will reward us 2-20 pieces of wepon, depending on score. And later we could exchange them for required weapon. 1 weapon = 100 pieces. or less, depends on achievements you got.

    2) remove random from final chest. and let system loop through all weapon types each time you open the chest. for ex: 1-st completion you can get a bow. Next: 1-h and shield. Next: ice staff. etc.... until you pass all weapon types.

    3) keep track of the final chest rewards and implement a "statistical", fair random. It could be 3-4 tries per each weapon. And worst case is: 4 * max_weapon_types (6) = 24 tries, which is NOT 60, NOT 200, just 24...

    That’d be super awesome.

100+ runs. I was doing it twice a day for months. Got 4+ of every single weapon before the spicy one dropped. Eventually I got a second one. Praise Seht for his gift of transmutation <3

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Got my sharpened (was still the best trait back then) inferno in like 48 runs and immediately stopped; in the meanwhile, I got like 8 in other traits in total. So for me, it wasn't too bad.

Are there 12 different weapons that can appear( ignoring trait)? If so, the odds of running 60 times and NOT getting a specific one of the 12 would be .54%.

reading all of this depresses me LOL. So the staff has a lower chance of dropping than other items? That's sorta messed up.

Thats why the tokens in WoW are nice. Each run give you tokens wich you can spend to buy the stuff you've been unlucky to get.

Lets say a run could give you 5 token and staff price would be 100 token, So fi you've been un-lucky enought to not get one after 25 runs you could buy it.

Well I,ve just pulled randoms numbers.

The purpose is to not make something to too toxic to do. I mean if you've been able to complete vMA 100 times, having you run it another 100 times just bcuz of RNG is a bit silly.

I've gotten two, first one was after my 13th clear, the second came the same week out of a weekly reward. Haven't tried again since. I agree with the poster saying to farm during Wrothgar event, but that's easy for me to say since I already have a couple. I wish you luck and persistence pays. Keep going.

I wanted something else and got my inferno staff on my 1st run. What I wanted took me over 38 runs before I got it. But I enjoy doing vMA to relax, so I do it every week at the minimum. I don't really care about the weapons too much tbh. Though you will get it OP just keep at it. Gets easier with continuity, as do most things. :)

I'm 100% for a system like this even though I've done hundreds of VMA runs and have multiples of every weapon type. The current system is just soul crushing. No need for newer players to suffer the same BS.

The true probability of getting an inferno is somewhere from 1/15 to 1/25 per run. So not getting any after 60 runs is somewhere from 1.6% to 8.7%

There is 1/6 chance to get a destro then a 1/3 chance that that destro is a fire staff, so the is a ~5% chance that you will get a fire staff in a single run.

I stopped running vMA, other then when it is double drops, when I realized that there was around the same chance to get what I wanted as the failure rate on my girlfriends birth control. Though this was before trait changing though, it was something like a .6% chance to get a Sharpened fire staff.
