Guilds and TESO

Ive played a few MMO's and generally you can have a choice to have players names up along with the guild this is a huge feature because it allows you to see who's who without having to click on them mouse over them and what not

in this game and maybe its just me but I dont notice guilds like in past games its kind of a concern, especially in PVP when the games new and you dont know anyone or a who's with who type of thing...

I.e. heres 50guild XXX members coming.... In TESO I can't tell,

Is it a setting that im missing ? Its making it dificult to see who's who within the community in general.

You are correct. There is no setting to enable nameplates/guild names over peoples' heads like in other MMOs. All you get is the faction icon over their heads. and red HP indicator bar if you have it enabled.

Isn't the fact that there's 50 people rushing you enough? Regardless of what guild they're in, you're probably about to have a bad day.

    Pros and cons to this

First, being able to tell who belongs to what Guild would be phenominally helpful especially in PvP as larger guilds form, I easily foresee multiple small guilds teaming up to take on one big guild. Knowing who's "on your side" would be extremely helpful.

From a real estate standpoint, with 5 guilds that any one player can belong to, how are you going to list them on the screen while minimizing screen real estate. (No, not everyone plays on their 50 inch TV ... just me ;p ) .... the point is, as a game developer, you must accomodate smaller screens - and weaker gaming machines - to sell enough product to be profitable. So display is an issue.

The flip side, though, is that if you group with someone who is either unguilded - or not "fully guilded" - it'd be nice to quickly see that and be able to extend that invitation to join your own group.

But then there's the whole RP thing ... people in RL don't walk around with signs over their head claiming their designation outside of name tags / apaprel choice (i.e. sports jerseys, clothing designer, etc...)

So a lot to consider here ....

But I do offer a solution. I saw this in some other game - I don't remember which one - but the mmo had a feature where the guild leader could design a shield for their guild. If something similar were implemented here, then a miniature shield, or shields, could appear under their hit point bar.

Not saying it's a great idea ... or even a good idea ... but it's a possible solution thrown down on the table.
