As mentioned on an ESO Live show:
They (ZoS head developer) stated that they cant increase slots at this time due to limitations on the number of interactable items that can be in an instance and not lag the computer, console. They stated its mosly lower end computers and consoles that are the main limitation. They would love to give us more slots but dont know if or when they will be able to, if ever.

They could however, presumably, make the existing slots more flexible?
So, they could allow us to place more traditional furnishings, if we forewent placing some, or all, trophies and/or statuettes.
Rather than having set limits for each category, they could allow us to place what we wanted, up to the same overall limit.

How low end? Lol..? Worlds have 1000s of items.

Theoretically yes they could just have 700 slots for a manor for ESO+ and let you place 700 objects period

Yes but they are not all interactable, that is the key. An interactable item has a greater cost to render and store than a non interactable one.

Well, no, it would be more than that wouldn't it?
Because you currently have your 700 Traditional Furnishings slots, as standard (with ESO+), and then you have your separate trophy and statuette limits, over and above that 700.
In other words, even when you have placed 700 Traditional Furnishing items, you can still continue to place things like trophies and statuettes.
In my palace, I can place 700 Traditional Furnishings and then up to 110 Collectible Furnishings and 10 Special Furnishings over and above that.
So, I'm suggesting that, if someone doesn't want to place any (or all) trophies and/or statuettes in their home, they should be able to swap them out for the same number of (non-interactable) Traditional Furnishings.
Over and above the 700 limit.

But this is an extreme edge case, no ones house has over 10000 intractable, and if thats the case you can limit intractable.

Every object a player puts in a house is interactable. Thats 700 per manor with ESO+.
Look, I am not going to get into a debate about this. I have just stated what the devs said about why they cant increase slots.
You can try arguing with them about it.

No. The current limit is 700 or slightly above 700 to allow for a cushion so it would just be 700 period

Agreed. No matter how much we ask. If there is a technical limitation, it won't be done.

By the way, the reason I know this and was able to double check it so quickly, is because I have several full (600/600 and 700/700) houses and I don't normally place trophies.
So, I was able to just hop in there and immediately place multiple trophies, in otherwise already "full" houses.IF you did a search you would have found numerous threads on the topic.

Again, no.
Some objects (like lights) are classed as interactable (because, in the case of lights, you can switch them on and off).
While others, like tables, are not.
You, clearly, don't know what you're talking about.
If I were you, I'd stop sounding so sure about stuff I didn't know about.
It's misleading.
