Is ESO deliberately destroying the economy and why?

The anniversary market crash is kind of a tradition now.

If you look at Akaviri Boots for example, there's like a 15-20k drop at each anniversary, though this year it's barely 15k to begin with.

Oh no, I made 10% less on Welkynar Chests but it sold in minutes, alongside all my other duplicates. I’ve been rolling in it, bring on four more weeks. This has hugely boosted the motif market as people who were never interested in motifs before are buying them. They’ll keep buying after the event too which is great.

I sold a fang lair chest for 400k awhile back, now two giveaways later it's worth closer to 40k. Not a fan of giving away dlc dungeon motifs. It's a fun thing to earn and a reason to rerun those dungeons. Now that I can just buy them all for 10k each it's just kind of lame.

The influx of new player comming with the chapter usualy increase the price of motif back to their usual price

Yeah, there are WOW refugees everywhere. They will need/want motifs and they'll be able to get some for more reasonable prices. Like what I've been selling. ;)

But, because of this the Fighter's Guild will be forced to pay my characters less for daily dolmen hunts. Next, the Undaunted will go bankrupt and no longer offer 2 keys for hard mode dungeons. Tamriel will be the next Venezuela!

they have allready killed motif trading last year so nothing new here

lazy move to make casuals happily buy motifs not for 200k but for

2k gold they've been feeded for daily login =D

    why?

because 10 happy casuals pays 10 times more for sub and CS than 1 l33t OP imba tryhard

They should've excluded DLC dungeons motifs from this andprevious events.. now they all cost as usual motifs so basically zero point to complete dlc vet / dlc HMs after you completed them once. Same with trial motifs. And then ZOS wonders why nobody is playing those dungeons. Without at least couple of experienced people there is no chance for newbie players to complete them, and for experienced people there is zero motivation to farm them now.

"WOW refugees" is a new meme? As I know, majority of ESO players are Skyrim's refugees :D

The impact of the anniversary gifts has been massive. i see some prices drop by 99% and have no confidence in other costs in the auctions. i could have understood a day of this but the volume of formerly scarce items is trashing the market. Is there a good reason to do this?

    Prices dropped by 99%??

Sorry but I'm going to call BS on that statement.

Some of them have dropped by quite a lot on the EU server.

Seems as if there are a lot of people fleeing the sewer that wow has become. Oddly enough, my family are not among them. *baffled* I left wow in 2013, haven't been back. Canceled 7 accounts. I don't get why family is still paying.... but then again, not my business.

Not catering entirely to the "big money sellers" =/= "destroying the economy".

Exactly. I agree. Hell damn yeah. Thank you.

I am a "big money seller". This game needs opportunities for players who are not my customers and do not want to become my customers to earn a lot of goodies themselves with light/fun effort.

I love trading. I see my cash box balance as a form of points. I am a minority among many other kinds of minorities, such as players who don't give a damn about gold, or players who aren't interested in farming certain content, etc.

Threads complaining about the 'economy being destroyed' because of this event annoy me to... well, I probably can't use the colorful language I'd like.

It is sufficient to say we "big money sellers" don't have any right to complain that stuff changes. And if your trading empire is built around farming motif chapters... well, you've got some learning to do, son.

Sorry but I'm going to call BS on that statement.

The only thing that dropped near that much was things like Prophet Pages that were 5k to 10k the first night then floated down to 3 figures after a few days. A big drop, but not 99%.

And, this is the what happens with any event, the first few sold get lots of gold. Then the price plunges as the population gets engaged.

Regular Motifs might have dropped 20%, based on what I have sold so far this event.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yes, there is an effect, but it's never simple.

I've stopped buying motif pages for master writs for the duration of the vent, because of two things: I might get them dropped in the Anniversary boxes, but also I'm doing the event things and don't have the time for the master writs.

So my contribution to the economy has disappeared for the duration, and I'm sure others have changed their regular pattern of buying and selling in various ways. At the end of the event, I'll have a backlog of writs to do, and there may be additional styles where I just want the one page to complete it, so there will be a spike in my buying.

I've spent hundreds of thousands buying motifs. I've played this game consistently for the past 3 years, I work a full time job, have a child, and spend most of my in game time progressing in vet DLC trials. I don't always have time to run daily's, run the same vet dungeons over and over to get motifs. I don't always have the time to farm. I'm cp 1078, and still don't have everything. This is my favorite event of the year. The economy will stabilize like it always done, until then enjoy the lower cost of things.

It's better for the game to make older content more accessible over time. I don't know about staples like tempers and alchemy ingredients, but at least for things like old motifs and such, the event is good. It's best to keep people looking to farm the new content for the new rare drops instead of doing 15 Heists or Sacraments every day all day until forever because you realized that has the best profit margin.

I have an idea, just stop undercutting for so much, like seriously, why would you ever think that undercutting for 1k at a time is a good idea? What if 10 people do that, that is already 10k less.
