MagDK - the painful journey to 40k.

PvE - Dark elf MagDK. cp810. It's my main, all passives, skills necessary for the job are there, the only failing is me.

2x Zaan, 5x Spell Strat, 5x Siroria and vMA inferno. Flame dmg & Precise on Spell Strat front staff and Magicka absorb & Infused on vMA back.

I hit 40.3k with this last night but cannot repeat it, keep hitting 37-39k since. Is this what MagDk are capable of these days or am I missing a good 3 to 4k here? My weaving & cancelling isn't great but it's not bad either.

Rotation:-

Drain, Oblivion (then Pot) Eruption, Standard, Blockade, swap cancel..

Embers, Engulfing, Whipx2, Trap, swap cancel.

Oblivion, Blockade, swap cancel.

Whipx1, Embers, Engulfing, Whipx1, Trap, swap cancel.

Drain, Oblivion, Eruption, Blockade, swap cancel.

This all happens quickly and I don't have another standard ready until the final few seconds.

Inner Light on both bars, Lover Muindus.

How on earth do I find the seconds to get 4-6 whips in there? Also, if I were to put ele weapon into the rote, where exactly should that go?

I managed 42k with bsw, sorrow, zaan with shadow mundus. Rotation is

engulfing-embers-barswap-blockade-trap-eruption-oblivion-barswap- 2 whips- engulfing-embers-barswap blockade- barswap 5 whips-

Repeat over. If you need to heavy attack do it during the 5 whips. I dont have undaunted leveled on that character so i might go a bit higher once i do.

Magdk can hit higher, I´ve hit between 47/48k on a quick test on the pts so it was done with 300+ping.
Was using zaan, perfected siro, bsw and shadow Mundus I believe. Cant really say what my Rotation was like since I never do static ones.
One Thing you can do is to NOT drop your banner in the first Rotation, drop it when you have lost some resources and all dots are running to optimize Sustain and use as many Whips as you can fit during the active period.

Edit: I also recommend you frontbar Meteor for more mag and a bit Sustain and a slightly cheaper ultimate that you can use after the 1st banner on the (I assume 3 mil) dummy (especially nice since Shooting star also gets buffed by engulfing).

Yes. I have noticed this, I'm returning to the front bar before DoTs have ended, so I'm doing 1 whip before reapply. Because I only cast Oblivion and Blockade every other swap.

What is the remedy?

Nah they hit a bit higher I am getting 47-50 with spell strat sorrow zaan and shadow stone. I don't really play it at all so if I am getting that then someone better at the rotation is probably getting around 55k in my same gear. And with perfected siroria probably 58k honestly especially if someone else is draining for you.

From a quick read looks like you are over casting Oblivion. Oblivion should only be cast when the final ball goes. Also no ele weapon is just a spammable and whip is for DK superior so you wouldn't use it at all.

DK can like most other classes be made to have a circular rotation where you cast things no matter what at a certain point. But it will lower your damage output by a few thousand. A video if you could upload one would be helpful too.

dont throw your Standart in the first rotation...you waste a ton of resources since you barely used any till this moment.

Rotations looks like this:

FoO (precast) -> Inner Light (Precast) -> Trap -> Eruption -> LA -> Blockade -> LA ->FoO -> Swap
Embers -> LA -> Engulfing -> LA -> Whip -> LA (Whip ->LA repeat till blockade runs out) -> Swap
Blockade -> Lightattack -> Swap
(When running out, recast embers and engulfing, then / till then Whip -> LA) -> Swap
Eruption -> LA -> Blockade -> LA -> Trap -> La -> FoO -> LA -> Standart -> Swap
Embers -> LA -> Engulfing -> LA -> Whip -> LA (Whip ->LA repeat till blockade runs out) -> Swap
Blockade -> Lightattack -> Swap
(When running out, recast embers and engulfing, then / till then Whip -> LA) -> Swap
Eruption -> LA -> Blockade -> LA -> Trap -> La -> FoO -> LA ->Swap

I think you get the idea

Ok guys - one more question... Where would I put Elemental Weapon in this rotation? Swap for Whip?

If you are trying to find a fixed rotation, you are likely going to top out in the low to mid 40s. If you want more, play it dynamically (no rotation, just cast stuff as it expires). That is true of pretty much any magic class these days. Stamina tends to be a little more fixed in terms of the back bar, but the front bar is generally done dynamically as well.

As to ele drain, its pretty important that its in their somewhere if trying to standardized your parse, but again, just cast it as it expires.

for sustain I usually take my pot first, wait for cd to be reduced a bit. then start my parse as I'l get 1 potion in middle of the parse and if under 50k dps an extra for 'execute'.

Tho, I'm no DK so I don't know. I am a altmer sorc, I've heard we have about the same trash sustain. so maybe it can help
