Thank you strangers for adding me and helping me defeat a World Boss

Bad with names but was in Auridon fighting the world boss that is in Heritics Summons. Playing on the Xbox One and just got to CP 160. Was just wondering around and came apon Heritics Summons. Was going to leave but someone did the "invite" and I accepted and the foue of us there was able to defeat the boss. I died because I am bad at the game but oh well still had a blast.

I just want to say Thank You to the person who added me yesterday for the group. I wasn't sure why he/she added me. I didn't have my head set on, and I didn't see anyone talking. So I wasn't sure what was expected of me. I did the "Thank You emote/saying". Someone did the "good job emote/saying". After that they stood around for a minute or so. Not sure if they were checking out what loot they got or went up a level or what not.

I had to leave so after not knowing what to do, I just logged off for the nite. I just like to say thank your for adding me and helping me defeat something I couldn't do on my own.

Question though, what was expected of me? I don't know the reasoning for someone inviting me to join them. So I did for the first time. What was expected of me after the battle? Were we suppose to still group together or do people do this at world bosses and other places like this when attacking them? Should have I stayed? Should have I gone? Was it rude for leaving or would it have been rude for staying and following them since it was just to go against the world boss.

I don't want to be rude, but since I didn't have my head set on, there was no way of really communicating. So I guess what I am asking is what are the expectations when someone asks you to join them and there is no way of communicating with them?

Again, also a Thank You as well.

It's nice to see how considerate you are! I think they probably just offered to group for the boss to make everyone's lives easier! I doubt there was any expected follow-up.

Glad you managed to defeat the WB!

    Text chat?

I'd say it sounds like they expected you to help. They probably requested in zone chat and assumed you'd stopped by in response (has happened to me a few times)

First, you should set your chat HUD, they may have been sending a message there that you didn't see. :)

But, this is the nice thing about an MMO, you can have random experiences with other adventurers across Tamriel. No strings attached, lol.

What is expected of you may different from different groups, but your answers above are likely correct. No real expectations, because why wouldn't you band together with other heros while facing a monsterous beast?

If you are CP 160 in some situations people might link their weapon/armor drops for trade. If you get something you don't need and someone else does, it is polite to give/trade/sell to a group member, but not required.

Text Chat is how you communicate. And, all you really need is a few acronyms:

    TYFG Thank You for Group
GF or GJ Good Fight or Good Job

Well, not much really after that unless you have something to say.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Also, I notice you said you just reached CP160. Congratulations.

I do have one question, do you have CP160 Gear? Reason, at CP160, all scaling buffs are gone and using gear lower than CP160 can be very detrimental to your character. More so than when you were leveling.

If OP is on console like me, he'll need to choose something in options to make text chat UI appear on screen

When this happens to me i type Tyfg, jump around a bit and emote /salute at them and then leave group. If they have more to say they usually follow you for few steps and run right up on you/into you like they they are trying to position their character near you to talk/wait for them to finish typing.

At least that’s been my experience on pc mmos for over a decade. With consoles, I think typing is harder so I can’t be certain if it’s the same.

All told, as you describe it, you did good. Proper mmo etiquette imho

Best piece of advice I can give is to get a keyboard. It makes communication so much easier on Xbox. I can’t and dont use mic majority of the time and typing with controller is worse than using a type writer 50 years ago.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

No I don't have CP 160 gear yet @Nestor . I am working on researching. I did join a guild so I will go see their store and support the guild and buy something from their.

I did have chat HUD off. Thank you to the people for mentioning it. I forgot about it. I found it really hard to type when combat was so turned it off.

You dont have to go nuts on gear, at least until you get to some Vet Dungeons and Vet Trials.

Until then, what drops on the world can take care of you. First, decide if your a magic caster or a stamina melee type of fighter. Both can be ranged or up close. Then once you decide which direction, farm the appropriate Magic or Stamina gear from a zone. It's more important to be all in with either Stamina or Magic, than it any particular set. Also, set your attributes to be all Magic or Stamina, as you decided.

By getting your jewelry from dolmens, you can have at least two 5 piece sets. Once you start doing dungeons, then you can pick up 2 piece Monster Sets to add to the 2 5 piece sets.

This is nice. This is what was intended when the game was released, for people to band together and help one another beat stuff.

To OP:- World Bosses are pretty tough for the average solo player. They invited you to group so that you could help them do it, or maybe they thought that they would help you, either way.

Deffo keep your chat box up, you'll often see people calling for help with things like this, you can just say yes in the zone chat and they will invite you to their group.

How do I have the chat up? I tried putting it on and all I got was a small chat bubble on the right side of the screen. On Xbox One. I don't see any chatting. So I am wondering what settings do I need then?
