Trashmaster PVE vet dungeons

I am curious as to what you all feel is the best trashmaster.

A trashmaster is, in my opinion, a tank that can deal with the randomness of a pug vet dungeon group where heals, dps, or even both may be lacking.

Generally besides providing basic functionality the tank should also have either single target or aoe damage abilities.

I would also say it might be necessary to have gear-sets that are better suited for the tank instead of the group.

What I like so far is Grothdarr combined with the many aoe abilitied that templar has. Many are fire and forget and are dots, which is great.

if that it what you are going for, maybe a nightblade tank?

I tried nightblade but it has 0 aoe abilities that work properly. Sap essence and the path morph are weak-sauce/gimped.

the skills ar strong, but if you have barely any weapondamage or weaponcrit, they won't do damage. If you want some damage, wear proc sets

I think I get what you’re saying. This is for dungeons, not trials; so you’re trying to make up for the poopoo DPS you end up with from group finder randoms.

You find that Ebon/Alkosh does little to help anything (a buffed up turd is still a turd) so looking for a way to DPS and Tank while being self sufficient enough to not really need a healer either.

Basically, you need a build that would allow you to solo the dungeon, and maybe bring another 3 players along for the ride. Hopefully they can contribute something?

I find Leeching plate from Imperial City Prison DLC Dungeon to be excellent at doing a bit of damage and healing you.

Grothdar Monster set is marvelous for dishing out some much needed AOE damage. Iceheart can work well, Valkyn Skoria, Maw the Infernal, thorvukin maybe.

So you need S/B on one bar, but the other bar can be anything really. How about a Maelstrom Bow! Or maybe and Asylum 2H or DW even; maybe a lightning or fire staff. The black rose prison one seems good for tank.

Can always keep WereWolf as a backup too. they're just a little bit crazy strong.

With Ebon/Alkosh, you get a whopping 4K DPS as a pure tank. Buffing 10k Group Finder DPS %20 gets them to 12k. Ooh. How about if you tank and do say, 20k DPS. Now you’re talking. Might be able to stomach FG1 with these nubs.

Oh yeah. You got another slot for sets still. Uhm. Hundings? Julianos? Go 511 maybe.

I’ve been tanking in medium armor recently. Run across a lot of even high level players that should be ashamed of themselves for the level of suck they bring. Anyways, I’m half thinking about going light armor, picking up the lover mundus and throwing a bunch of points into spell erosion and blessed.

There is no buff from the group finder unless the character using it is below lvl 50 and/or below cp 160. Tested by @code65536 here

I can’t write good today. I mean buffing bad DPS with Alkosh might bring them up %20 from 10k to 12k. And they’re still bad.

I may be reading a bit too far into it, but I think that’s what the OP is trying to do. Compensate for bad groups.

Yes you have the right of it. I feel guilty if I join a vet group for banished cells and after the group takes 1 minute to kill the first group of mobs, I leave. I would much rather try to tough it out.

Sometimes it is not possible though.

For instance 3 nights ago I ran a dungeon for Bogdan on vet. The dps couldn't kill the adds. I ran it last night with a fresh pug group and we killed Bogdan on the first try on hardmode.

Leeching Plate, Master's 2H, Seventh Legion on S&B Bar, monster set of choice. Throw down Caltrops, snare/root everything, hit Brawler a couple times. Works really well on stamwarden, but stamDK and stamsorc are also good.
7-day PVP campaign regular 2016-2019, Flawless Conqueror. MagDK/stamplar/stamwarden/mageblade. Requiem, Legend, Knights of Daggerfall. Currently retired from the wars; waiting on performance improvements.

Ah, I see what you're saying. It was my poor reading of what you wrote. Sorry about that.

Yeah, it's tough to buff randoms in vet dungeons as a tank. I usually tank those non-dlcs in a medium pen set with Leeching jewels and weapons or in pen set jewels and weps and medium Bahraha's (because pen buffs both LP and BC), usually with Slimecraw.
