The Morrowind Theme for Warden's Animal Companion Skill Line is Weird -- Skins Please

It just feels so out of place that a Bosmer Warden in Valenwood calls upon a Cliff Racer, Shalk, and a Netch for support -- those creatures don't even exist there. A Wasp/Hawk/Eagle, Thunderbug/Hoarvor, and something like a Spriggan would make more sense because those are creatures that actually exist in the region.

Has there been any discussion about making Warden's Animal Companion skills line more than just a Morrowind-themed skill line? Sure, Warden happened to launch during the Morrowind chapter, but I don't see that as a reason for tying the two together. Necromancer doesn't appear to have any Elsweyr-themed skills.

I always thought the theory behind that is Wardens were discovered/practised in Morrowind.

Same goes with Necromancer in Elsweyr.

Hmm, I haven't come across anything that says that, but I guess that could be the case?

Yeah the warden class is cool but if you don't like the specific animals it has you are SOL. Imagine how cool it would be of instead of a bear you could summon a wolf or tiger or whatever animal from each racial homeland.

One of those things I could see being added to the crown store someday.

    Maybe someday?

I'm also looking for ability skins. I would like to have an Indrik (the 4 event Indrik variants would be perfect for this) as my personal guardian and a shiny white glowing ancestor moth instead of the betty netch.

Also: I'm not going to give up my hope of a stamina morph for the swarm ability.

Pugging. Pugging all the way to victory.
Imperial Dragonknight --- male, stamina, heavy & medium armor, dual wield, one hand and shield, two handed.
Breton Templar --- female, magicka, light armor, restoration staff.
Redguard Warden --- female, stamina, medium armor, bow.
Breton Sorcerer --- male, magicka, light armor, destruction staff.
Imperial Templar --- male, stamina, medium armor, two handed.

Considering OP's warden probably ventures outside of Valenwood the explanation for them knowing and being able to call on these animals makes sense.

Sorry to ruin your party with a valid reason for knowing the skills.

    Hey @GrumpyDucking

I've recently talked about this topic because i totally agree. This is subjective to a lot of people but i'll talk about it again because why not?

Warden damage dealing as a whole is a shitshow in my opinion. Themes are all over the place and nonsensical, damage skills are boring and sparce.

Ill start off with Green Balance

This skill line (i believe) was the first one made. Because it appears to have little to no major issues with themes or performance. The skills are pretty good and all of them are useful with only one questionable morph. The theme of plants and mushrooms looks and feels good. This skill line is fine.

    Animal Companions
This is where i really question the class. For one thing, we saw in the trailer with the warden redguard that he had a bear and DAMAGING frost magic. Nowhere did it ever show him summon any other animals or even plants. Have you ever seen a legitimate NPC bear in Morrowind? Neither have i. Then you have a pterodactyl, some beetles, some more bugs and then some weird floating squid thing. These things are totally alien and bizzare to most people. How can you, a new player associate with this stuff if you have never played TES: 3 Morrowind? Maybe ESO is the first game you've played in the series. And when you see warden you think, oh cool! A druid class! I think a lot of people's reactions would rightfully be "wtf?" Upon seeing the animals. The class never needed to have to be related to morrowind. Because it just screws with the role-playing people play this game for. Here are some suggestions to change the skills:

Dive: reskin the cliff racer to a falcon.

Scorch: reskin the shalks to crocodile(s) leaping out of the water.

Swarm: skill is generally okay as is. But instead of fetcherflies they could be fleshflies seen around the rest of tamriel. Idk

Betty: why isn't this a nixad as they look like fairies or even something with magical powers? Netches don't have anything to do with magic.

When animal companions was most likely changed like that to fit the morrowind theme i have to question the last skill line.

    Winter's Embrace
Okay... so i am best known for talking about ice but i'll try and keep it short here.
Morrowind isn't known for its bears. But it's also not known for its ice fields? Is the warden a firefighter or something? The class never needed frost magic for tanking in the first place. There's an alteration spell called oakflesh ffs. alteration in general seems a fitting skill line for tanking. Why not use that? People have told me that winter is a season. Sure, thats the only connection you have. A lot of stuff dies in the winter and ice magic is often associated with necromancy because the cold preserves corpses. Necromancer npcs often use frost magic too. I think thats a pretty fitting link and should have been the damage type of necromancer. Another thing i have a major issue with is that people expected a DPS frost mage with this class and ZOS hasn't been accommodating for us at all. Im sorry ZOS but you cant just wipe ice DPS off the map it's been a staple of the elder scrolls damage elements forever. Magden is struggling at the moment with so few dps skills and group viability and Winter's Embrace is just right there waiting to be made more useful. I really think they have something against ice. I really do.

You aren't even close to ruining anything because your reason isn't valid. A character can call upon these animals before even visiting Morrowind or areas where these animals exist.

Sorry to ruin your attempt at trolling.

The bear has a couple of variations already, so the mechanism to customize skills is there. And Wardens are found throughout Tamriel (Who are the Wardens?). I'd love it if this was reflected in more of their skills rather than keeping them so Vvardenfell-centric.

I love how it even says they use alteration. Well I'm sorry but winter's embrace is destruction. Is and has been for a long time. Doesn't state in there how they bend the laws of destruction to turn frost magic into alteration.

I like the bear okay but I find the cartoonish neon mushrooms/netches/trees and garish ice animations too silly to play.

Wow always thougt im the only one. For me its like the Dragonknight doesnt fit either. A druid is a druid not an alien summoner where the ice comes from damn i dont know it its wanst a nord expansion so this would be the only reason to impliment it like it is. The Dragonknight....

Every game has a warrior class and we have a fire dragon winged warrior class or sth. like that. I dont get it at all.

Im new to ESO and its rly fun in some ways BUT its so hard to fall in love with a class. Nightblade only class i think fits into Elder Scrolls at all.

Playing as a mag dk to simulate a fire mage. Its ok but its only ok not rly cool or super fun to play.

But ok thats how it is. Lets talk about mageblades when were at this point now XD

The classes seem like they're mostly a gameplay thing. But attempts were made to tie them to some lore. Dragonknights descend from the Akaviri Dragonguard while Templars are linked to followers of Stendarr.

Each class has a few books that provide some background info. and increase your skill level when read. You can find a list of all the ESO skill books here:https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Skill_Books. Or check out the "See Also" notes on the class pages: Templar, Dragonknight
