How do Bosmer players feel that their god (or leader) is.... Spoilers

Spoilers here. If you haven't done the Almeri Dominion quests and don't want a spoiler don't read any further.

So I completed a quest about a certain Bosmer King. Is he a King or a god? I was surprised that the King is well, you know not a certain person but a different person. (yeah I know, I said spoilers but you know someone is going to come in and read it :) )

So I am curious for those Bosmer players who know what I am talking about, how do you feel the King/god you may or may not fallow is not who or what you may thought he is?
Just to make sure, that the Wilder King is an Altmer and and is still an Altmer being worshoped of followed by Bosmers.

Only the Bosmer of Greenshade follow the Wilderking/Wilderqueen, outside of them the Wilderking, now Queen, is tended to be thought of as a myth, but perhaps that's changed now with the events of the Greenshade storyline.

It certainly is an interesting bit of irony though, especially with how the Bosmer react to the Altmer colonizing in Marbruk.

This story is clearly a win for the Valenwood. Even the most powerful Altmer mages are no match for the forest. When they try to bend it to their will, the Green says, "No." and then claims them as her own.

The Silvenar is not a god, nor is the Green Lady, nor is the Wilderqueen. They are each individual manifestations of the various aspects of the Pact. They remain mortal, and are each replaced in their time as Y'ffre's story continues to unfold.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

Thank you for that. Nice to know. I never knew that. I thought the Wilderqueen was some kind of god or monarch that was worshiped or followed.

This is what I like about ESO and TES so much. We take in for what we understand. For some, something can be a god, for another, that is just a person and not a deity. Hind sight is one thing, but if we don't know, it just makes the history, or fluff even better as we are playing or role playing in what we don't know. If that makes sense.

Y'ffre is the God and the goo is where you go when you break the green pact.

Personally the threat of the Goo always scared the blank outta me

if she was chosen, it was for a reason. my bosmer doesn't hate all Altmer, just most of them. you know the ones that act all superior and disrespect nature.

The bosmer "god" would be Y'ffre, which is more or less the "spirit of nature" in the TES setting.

The Wilderking... is more of a saintly figure I guess. More an office like "high priest", and if you follow the conversations, you would hear that there have been several wilderkings before that one (and wilderqueens as well)...

What I really like about this discussion is that it -can- be seen either way, depending on your point of view. Did the green defeat the mage and take it over? Did the mage conquer the green and became its king? Is it neither, or maybe is it... both?

No definite answer is given, and thus everyone can roll with it as they choose! I love those things in stories! ;)

As I understand it, Bosmer were originally Ehlonfey (the first civilised race to properly inhabit nirn, though the primordial Argonians, Khajiit and Hist were there before them) who would come to be known as the Altmer. As they spread across Tamriel, they split into off-shoot evolutionary chains; some became the Bosmer, some became the chimer who would then become the dunmer, some became the snow elves, etc.

tl;dr modern bosmer are actually descendants of the ancient altmer anyway

i would ask any lore nerds bigger nerds than me to correct me on this, i'm not quite as familiar with the ancient ancient history of nirn

There are different stories. In most, the Bosmer are descendants of people who would shift form constantly, between man, mer, plant, beast. Y'ffre gave them fixed elven forms, and bound them to the Pact. Khajiit tales tell a similar story, but add that some of the pre-Bosmer followed Azura instead of Y'ffre, and from her they learned to tie their forms to the moons and became Khajiit. This was during the dawn of creation, when even time wasn't fixed yet and causality was only a sometimes thing -- effects could create their causes.

For this reason it is questionable if the Bosmer are actually kin to the Altmer at all; they may have been pre Khajiit who were given elven bodies.

Some Altmer question that there is a relationship, too, though for different reasons.

Don't you love it when people claim they don't care? You must care a smidgen, after all you cared to post. If you really didn't care, you would have moved on. Since you couldn't move on, you cared. :)

My bosmer came on imperial ship as unknown prisoner to Vvardenfell and then proved fancied herself as Blades agent, i.e. Dragonguard. Thus, connection to Green Pact was severed and she actually DGAF about Silvenar and Wilderking etc.. but of course she'll never admit it and will defend her homeland culture and faith at forums and wherever due to natural stubbornness and determination to fight wrongs.
