i swapped to PC in november last year, my first thoughts were gamepad, but i bit the bullet, and use keyboard and mouse, so much better to be honest. But either way the switch was worth it.

Yesterday, due to the patch, the lazy writ craft addon is broken. Or more like the patch broke the interface between addon.
Lazy writ craft automate the daily crafting writ so much that I forget the horror of having to manually craft the required items like some kind of medieval peasant.
How can anyone manage to live like that.

Anyway, addon, it is well worth it.

Starting at true level 1 with all the knowledge of a seasoned player is a unique experience too. I've found a renewed excitement in playing; getting to grips with the kb+m is part of that

Though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with consoles, they’re great too

The only advantage console has is the in game voice chat... kind of annoying to be in cyrodiil (on pc) and have to go into discord (or most people won’t group with you at all). But, as others here have said, every aspect of the game is smoother on pc. While there’s still lag in Cyro on pc, I find that I do much much better on pc due to the better responsiveness of the controls... or the pc players aren’t as good! Just kidding, of course

for me, I hear of tons of lag stories on my PS4 in Cyrodil (Such as my friends cant even approach certain keeps without lag-out / blue screening); and I've played both KB/Mouse and Gamepad, but I prefer Gamepad; like others mentioned above.

Do yourself a favor and get a wired Gamepad (No batteries required, for long hours of grinding), I just wish ESO on PC had a default layout for PS4 style controllers instead of Xbox. You need to rebind your keys to match.

Also the add-ons are very nice.

Other PROs and CONs, of playing on PC; IMO --

PROs --
-PC has better prices and much wider variety of Guild Traders (Mostly due to add ons), in some cases by a factor of 10-100x cheaper; so you need to spend less gold to get the items you need. You spent 200k on that motif page? Cool story...
-Prior to Wrathstone, you dont need to spend hours of your life looking for particular items in traders; and falling asleep while doing so.
-PC seems to have a larger server population.
-Your Average PC player seems more friendly and helpful in recruiting Guilds.
-You can still use a large TV with a simple HDMI cable.
-If you participated in the ESO Beta, you can have access to your Monkey pet, Raisins.
-You can still use a "Gamepad"
-You have to deal with less Farming Bots, although they still exist on PC, but are less annoying. (Please fix this ZOS)
-The platform feels more stable / better frame rates than console, and more frequent bug fixes / updates. (Please fix this Sony/ZOS)
-You have access to a better Browser just by pressing Alt-Tab. The PS4 Web Browser blows hard. (Please fix this Sony)
-Your party chats in Discord are not limited to 8 Players. (Please fix this Sony)
-Add-Ons in general. (Please fix this ZOS)

CONs --
-You don't have access to all of your toons, Gold, items, or 810+ CP.
-You need to re-research all of your item traits for crafting.
-You need to level up your toons from Level 1, in fact, re-create them.
-The swapping between Gamepad Mode, and KB/Mouse might feel strange, and sometimes annoying to use certain Add-Ons.
(I binded the swap to Alt+G)
-You have to make new friends, instead of depending upon your PSN / Xbox friends lists.
-You need to get used to using Discord, or just be a mute player. People on PSN / Xbox also use Discord sometimes, but its often only used by a select amount of people, or cross - platform players, which is something that ESO has btw.
(I am not 100% sure why ZOS removed in-game Voice chat for PC -- to reduce lag perhaps?)
-Overall Cost / simplicity of a Console is lost.

So I'm another player that is thinking of making the switch.

I havnt played ESO in well over a year, so I forgot how to play this game.
Last night I downloaded the game in my PS4 and started playing again. Things kind of came back to me.
I have 2 characters that have mastered crafting with all traits researched. So if I switch it's back to waiting a year before I can be a master crafter again.

But I find that the cost on PC will be cheaper. On ps4 you need a ps4 plus and if you get a eso plus it's expensive. Eso plus on PC is cheaper and it's free to play online.

So I might give it a shot now with the free weekend and maybe just start over.

I'm on PC and I play almost all pve using controller because it is far more relaxing. For pvp or some more hardcore pve I prefer mouse and keyboard. Although I have noticed that doing LA weaving is a little easier using gamepad but that might be just me.

If you switch you will get addons, a little bit more mature community (less teabagging at least) and better graphics.

Honestly addons are huge. I use to be in the camp of " no, addons arnt terrible, console just has to practice more to get at the same lvl"

I am completely over that *** lol

- Batch craft consumables
- Skyshard and lore book markers: Something zos wants to charge us for instead of giving us to have an even playing field
- Switching gear on the quickly in trials. Not many ppl know this but bis for pc is not bis for console. On pc top trials guilds will run 2 different sets loadouts. 1 for boss fights and 1 for trash pulls. Top raid guilds on console have to build with one set loadout in mind. Were still using bsw and ms
- ability timers are HUGE. Knowing when exactly a dot is going to be up is HUGE. It allows for a more dynamic rotation. It helps you get the most out of those dots so you can save resources instead of having to cast a second or 2 early. We cant even properly use siroria in trials because of not knowing when we can leave the circle. Most top trials guilds ps4 wont let you use siroria for that reason.
- Farming resource nodes, We do not have a giant arrow pointing to them. We have a glow you can barely see in day
- Improved parse readouts, if your missing up time on buffs, debuffs or dots there is 0 way to learn that info on console without Physically, with your eyes, looking at your every effect in your rotation to see it. When your learning a rotation on console you have to pay attention to everything. Theres no doing your rotation seeing where your letting uptime fall off and and working on it. Unless you physically notice yourself you can waste tons of time practicing your rotation and not improving on something you missed

You can start over on pc and end up further ahead of where you would have been if you just stayed on console in the same time frame

They even have addons to tell them when to block and rolldodge. With how much this game is spoon feed to pc players im surprised they dont have addons telling them what order they need to prioritize adds.

I use a gamepad and kick ass in PVP. PVE is totally playabe at a high level with gamepad as well. Remember this MMO was designed with gamepads in mind.

And the disadvantage at aiming that gamepads get versus mouse, doesn't apply to this game, since aiming is very easy here.

I switched from pc to Xbox.

I prefer Xbox.
I played Morrowind on xbox when I was like 13.
It's sentimental.

Well, it's laggy during primetime in PvP specifically. Most other hours of the day it's fine and playable. A really nice thing about PC as well is that you can adjust your graphics to gain better and more stable framerate than you can on console. I'd say it's well worth it.

My real hold back keeping me from changing is the real money I have spent and the crowns I have now to spend. Plus I am invested in my characters, having 8 since day 1 on PS4.

I don't accept that they can't do it unless for a legal reason. Technically I believe they could if they wanted too. Heck charge real money for it. I don't care I will pay it.

It does make me upset a little that we on console have to spend points in seeing resources when PC doesn't. Plus the real money console players will have to spend for skyshards and mages guild books that are some much easier I have been told PC.

I played 2 years on PS4, and currently this is my second year on PC, i still play with DS4 controller and i can tell you i am perfectly able to annihilate the PC PvP players in BGs just fine, it is all about muscle memory no matter if u use Mouse or Gamepad.
Also you can use the minimap addon and some Skill duration counters with the gamepad UI which makes your experience better in both PvP and PVE

I used to play on ps4 and moved to pc. Think I’ve been on pc for almost a year, already almost at cp cap. With all these xp events this is the best time to switch imo.

Tbh I’m far better off now on PC, the addons are great, and I’m friends with other people who also used to play on ps4. I’ve done more content on pc than ps4 now. Would never go back. I also don’t use a controller anymore. I used to but I decided to use pc ui and I much prefer that.

I started ESO at console release on XBox, and played for a year or so on console. Loved playing on the couch on a big screen. With zone voice chat muted, but group voice chat from the game or XBox live active, it was great. But as the game grew more popular and therefore more populated, the lag made it unplayable all to often. Sometimes you couldn't walk across a town without hitting sudden load screens.

So I switched to PC, and painstakingly rebuilt and re-leveled my main -- even managed to get the same name for him. Addons are such a huge QOL improvement. I can still use my XBox controller, and switch to mouse and keyboard (or custom-mapped Tartarus keypad) any time I want. I can use the PC or the console interface. Better frame rates overall (60fps average, with occasional dips into the 40's in large towns, Cyrodiil, and large congregations of players) and a monitor upgrade to an ultrawide panel makes playing at my desk as good as on the couch.

For voice chat, Discord is practically universal with guilds, and its group text messaging adds a whole other social dimension. A great guild on PC with an active Discord is a huge asset to the social side of the game. (Same for console guilds with Discord groups, but it's not as much the de-facto standard since consoles have native voice chat. For PC, Discord is probably the number one social channel beyond the in-game chatbox.)
