In short, easy does it until or unless you have mats/money to burn
"Guess that gives me time to farm mats for them... wait... WHAT?"

Great opportunity for that "time to earn an allowance/get a job" Dad speech.
When I leveled my alts I did blue gear and white jewellery. 7 piece set on weapons and another 5 piece set. That way if you get a weapon drop you can upgrade it without losing your 5 piece bonus.
Make sure to have 1 light, 1 med and 1 heavy to level up the armour skill lines. Always heavy chest and light belt.
If you do go purple on some pieces, do it on the weapons and chest. Jewellery is not worth going more than white on given the cost. Purple runes are the way to go.
After playing a match, be sure they know they can buy level appropriate food and potions from the battleground vendor with alliance points, they make a big difference.

Try not to do everything because not everyone sticks with the game.
Hail and well met, all,
I personally do not PvP, but my son, and his two friends do. They’ve recently joined the game, and like any good father… I guess I’m supporting him in game as I do in RL, lol.
He and his friends want to focus on PvP, and the only advice I’ve been able to give is regardless of role or resource usage, wear Plate/Heavy armor… or so I’ve read.
I have lv 50 crafters in all things, (ok… Alchemy is only 46, but 50 in all else).
Heavy armor is fine for them even in PvE since they plan to play together all the time.
I’m making them Training trait armor and weapons for levels 10, 20, 30, etc etc.
At what point, if any, is it worth it to improve their gear, and to what tier; green, blue, purple <-- they are SO on their own for supplying these, (except my son), Legendary <-- HAHAHAHAHA?
Will gear improvement matter at all, or are they always going to get ROFLStomped because they are newbies with no CP… or many SP for that matter?
I don’t want to waste tempers just ‘cause… but I’m willing to use what I have and buy more, (except purple), if it will genuinely help them starting at level…. ??
Thank you for your time and help.
Thus do I make sacrifice to the top tier PvPers out there; come forth and stomp mudholes in their butts and walk them dry 😊
Awesome, thank you both.
What about improving the gear; green, blue, etc?
At what level gear, if any, should I start using tempers to improve the gear... or just give them the base "white" gear until they hit Lv 50 or CP 160?
I can probably cover them all in green gear every 10 levels... not sure I can do that with blue, (though I can my son for sure), and I wouldn't bother with purple/gold gear until... and IF... they get to CP 160.
Thanks again.
