Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

I know this is going to get me flamed but here I go

Hi All;

I have notice a lot, and I mean a lot of very angry folks out there having issues with their system. I don't know if I am blessed or cursed by the dark gods of technology, but either way I am not having any of the problems I have read about so far.

So I am thinking maybe if I tell you about my system that it might help some folks out there.

First I do regular driver and system maintenance on my system about once a month. once ever two months. My system is a desktop computer, that is protected by my networks firewall so I do not need my OS's firewall on (yes having more multiple firewalls on can cause big issues)

My OS is Win 7 Pro 32 bit, and just a f.y.i my roommates system is also Win 7 Pro 64 bit (he also is playing ESO, and I do maintenance on his system as well)

Both system are bug and malware free. No weather bug, so software on the system that I don't know what it is and that I didn't put on there in the first place.

have AVG as my Anti-Virus, Roomy has Windows Essentials for his AV. All system have full OS updates, both systems have no over clocking at all

Direct-X is current.

I am running Duel monitors, one a flat screen, the other a older CRT

If you are using a Cable modem make sure it is a Docsis 3 cable modem. Docsis 1 and 2 are not supported by any internet providers that I am aware of. Also Docsis 1 and 2 version cable modems can not handle the traffic that will be going though it for high end games (I think mainly due to internet providers)

Now any PC Geeks out there will see my system is nothing special at all, but it run smooth and I have no issue with it with any game, or other programs I have on my system.

So, check all your drivers, check your OS updates, check for conflicting software, check for software that you might not know what it is (remember that before you uninstall any questionable software check it out on Google to see what comes up. It's not the things you may know about on your system that will bite you in the computer backside, it's the software you don't know about that will send you to hair club for men.

I hope for someone, or anyone that this will be helpful. Also remember if you are running Windows XP it is no longer supported by Microsoft or anyone else. Meaning I would suggest upgrading to WIn 7 or even 8 if you are feeling daring. There are good retailer out there I'm sure. Either local to where ever you are or even say check Pricewatch, Tigerdirect or even Amazon (no I am not pitching for them, I am simply giving an option).

I cannot believe you gave out my PC info on a forum man...is nothing sacred

You need to change to 64-bit. You have 8 GB, and only 4 GB will be accessible due to your current OS. Since you have an APU only 3 GB will be accessible because of shared memory.

This isn't even remotely accurate and isn't information that's going to help anyone.

You're also running a $40 video card, I'm actually amazed the game runs at all. A 6450 scores an average of 4,399 points below a 660Ti in PassMark G3D, and a 660Ti only averages 4,688. I would strongly, strongly recommend against anyone trying to use it to play a game like this (or any other, really) and I would honestly be extremely wary of any technical suggestions from someone who would suggest using it for gaming.

Then you have miss read and taken the intention of what I posted very wrongly.

    1. If I can get it to run on my system smoothly without issue, having the best ranking or higher ranking Graphic Card is not an issue. So the PassMark G3D is meaningless to even reference. Especially since most folks get what they can afford, which is not always the most powerful.

    2. The suggestion I gave to check are still just as valid. Especially if I can get it to run on my system without issue. With my system seeming to clearly being inferior to your's. Which makes my technical expertise more valid, not less. Since I can get no gripe results with what can be reasonably afforded.

    3. And going out of your way to not see what, I was actually trying to show and do. While your demonstration of a tech elitist position, in no was ingratiates you to anyone. But I guess you caring more about Point rankings from PassMark G3D , than getting what the average person can afford and get to work, thus making them think they have a inferior system is your point?

Not everyone can afford the latest and greatest, or even a couple or more steps down from that. But if someone like me can get it to work smoothly and without issue. Then as long as that system the other person is dealing with can match or exceed what I have posted then they should have no issue running ESO.

That seems like technical support and expertise that can save them money, and keep them from breaking the bank.

And before I forget, the issue on Cable modems is very valid, if the customer has a high end bandwidth connection, but has an out of date cable modem they are hurting themselves and most likely not getting what they are paying for. Worst is the provider is not going to in most cases even say anything about it, until the customer calls in and starts complaining about connection issues.

The first choke point in any home network is its connection to the outside world. That being Router and modem, or combo router/modem Gateways.

So once again the information is helpful and relevant.

Sadly that is correct I am aware of that, it's my next project to work on. At the time I could not afford otherwise, it was a very frustrating situation. But in time this too shall pass.
