From how far away can you see a Skyshard marker

Just wondering how close I have to be to these things to find them...

You can mess with your view distance, but many of them are tucked away behind line of sight obstacles. I mean, I ran past the one in Dhalmora probably five times before I finally circled around the back of the right house. I just couldnt see it from my normal route.

SO just looking around you and slightly upwards into the sky for the blue column of light in most cases wont locate them

It's based on your view distance slider in options. The higher this is, the more framerate issues you might see, but also the further you can, well, see.

EDIT: Wait, the skyshard marker? As in from the addon? That's configurable in the addon options.

No not an addon. I am just talking about seeing the blue column of light that extends up into the sky form them.

Okay, yeah, that's controlled by the view distance slider (I think.) Not sure what the default is, or where that's locked to on consoles.

Nothing like as far as the compass marker & in my case it still does not show the column of light even when interacting with it (some of the time, since the Wrathstone DLC dropped)

Using the compass marker is the best bet, and look for the obscured area when close, behind the rocks, walls, on top of cliffs etc..

Several skyshards are simply broken, and haven't displayed a beacon in years. ZOS doesn't seem interested in fixing them, either.
