Diminishing value of writ vouchers - Unlocking crafted items

I don't expect many to be in my situation, but I'm currently holding nearly 4,000 writ vouchers and don't have anything to buy. I could just buy stuff to sell on the guild store, I probably will, but I am not inspired to do these writs as the reward vs time is not really there anymore.

I was thinking there might be another worthwhile reward for master writs. Much like the 'outfit' tab, have another tab for crafted items, that only unlock from doing master writs. All show as CP160.

How it works is, if you complete a writ for, as an example, the Armor Master set, specifically, Sword, Purple grade, Infused trait, Nord style and cash it in, you will be awarded the writ vouchers but you will have on your crafted tab, access to an Armor Master Sword, Purple, Infused, Nord.

If you get another writ that is Armor Master Sword, Gold, Powered, Redguard and complete it, the tab will now show a Gold Armor master sword, with the choice of Redguard/Nord and the choice of Infused/Powered trait. So you only need to complete 1 gold grade item to bring the entire item, including its styles and traits up to gold tier.

After you have completed a writ, you will not receive the same style writ again. Given all the sets, and styles in the game, and the rate they are released, very few will ever run out of writs, and if they do, the next update will come out and they'll be back at it again.

This will mean however, that Jewelry writs will become much more finite as they do not have style writs, which is probably a good thing. Jewelry writs value would go up and they would be worthwhile to complete. The drop rate would need to be reduced.

I rarely use crafted sets as they are not BIS, but this would add a great deal of value to the master writ system if it had a collection bonus.

I'd also say, to prevent OP'ness, you can only have 1 item equipped, ie you cannot have 2 swords, or 2 rings, you'll need to use a ring from another set, and have 1 sword 1 axe.

Master writs with particular trait styles and grades should drop from the loot table if already complete:
1) Gold grade - If RNGesus deems you worthy to receive a master writ of gold grade, it will not be one that you have already completed, unless you have completed them all.
2) Nirnhoned - Once you have unlocked the Nirn trait of an item, it will not drop again for that item. This is so that those that want to keep doing Master Writs to add styles to the collections don't have to fork out for nirn just to get that style added.

This also adds another layer of value to Master writs, people won't simply ask, 'can I do that writ', they will actively seek out sought after writs to sets they actually want for their collections.

This would definitely get me back into churning out the writs as the master writs will always be worthwhile in some way, shape or form.

Edit;
It is worth noting that Crafted items are not BIS. This just allows for players to use crafted sets for emergency situations (tank quit? can't completed Cloudrest and need a tank to go down?) You can now easily, assuming you have unlocked it, out fit a stam dps as a tank, or a mag dps as a healer. They may not be the best tank or healer, but they should be able to get the job done on vet dungeon / normal trial if they know what they are doing. It would do wonders for the que finder if DPS can just slap on Brass Fortress + Turog Pact, adjust a few skills and away they go. People don't do this because they do not want to carry around a tank set on their DPS characters.

I'm at just over 4k writ vouchers as well and still farming for more daily. There's always stuff to spend them on. The main writ guy just changed furnishing recipes which cost about 1k vouchers to catch up on. Selling crafting stations and glass or ebony motifs is a great way to convert vouchers to gold. If you're serious about upping your chance for master writ drops, you'll need to buy a glass and ebony motif for each alt which is going to cost you a ton of vouchers. A full set of attunable crafting stations costs 1k vouchers and there are oh-so-many craftable sets; I doubt there are many out there besides guild crafting halls that have them all.

I'm all for ZOS adding even more options of things to buy with vouchers, but even as things are there are already lots of things to spend them on.

I'm already at about 9 mil gold though, so the prospect of doing writs and master writs for gold is somewhat unappealing. Don't get me wrong, if I was broke, it is a great source of income.

I'm merely writing my position as a player that has acquired much of what is there to acquire and has little use for gold.

Introducing a Collectible system for crafted items, and their styles / traits would be a whole new tier that no amount of wealth would be able to diminish its value. I'd go from not caring about Master Writs to buying Master Writs just to complete and unlock them.

Not saying it's a bad idea; I actually kind of like it and do want to see more options added. Just saying there's already plenty of stuff to spend them on.

Speaking of collectibles, back when they first talked about introducing Music Boxes to ESO, I was really hoping they were going to make them regional collectibles purchasable with writ vouchers. Sadly they ended up being a cash-shop only item.

if the storage boxes weren't bound, i'm sure those would be pretty valuable and in high demand. alternatively, maybe you could buy potent nirncrux with writs, kinda like hakeijos with tel var

Not a bad idea re Nirn with writs, but the problem I have, is I only want Pot Nirns to do Master Writs ... so it is somewhat of a self defeating cycle. If I stop doing writs I don't need Nirns, doing writs for Nirns to do more writs seems, well, pointless.

Don't get me wrong, I suspect many others will get value from Nirns for vouchers, so I think your idea is great, just as a 'late stage master writ' player, it has not a great deal of value for me.

We need to be able to by outfit slots with vouchers.

Now this is an awesome idea because with outfit slots only being available in the cash shop and them being horribly overpriced for what little you get (one extra slot for a single alt) is just insane. As they are set up now, I treat them like they don't even exist because I would never pay that much for them. Allowing them to be purchased straight up for gold seems too overbalanced in the other extreme; allowing them to be purchased for a fair price of vouchers seems a fair midpoint.

Those of us who had already leveled beyond the 8th storage box, and therefor can't get one without creating another/new 'toon ought to be able to buy that 8th box with vouchers.

I have 12 'toons as it is, all at 985, and I sure don't want to have to create a new 'toon just to get the 8th box.

I'm going to be dead before I take the time to lvl another new 'toon up.

I get plenty of writs, as Andro said, check you not only have the skill line maxed, but you also have all points in the Ingot / Wood / Cloth trees. I usually get 1 writ per toon. Sometimes 2, rarely none. I'd prob got about 80 writs I'm not inspired to do.

I only do Wood / Black / Cloth / Jewel / Enchant as lazy writ takes care of them well. My main does them all as he is stocked up on premade items the writs often demand.

    I feel ya,

I've got all the attuneables that I need, not all of them, but I have no desire to collect the sets that have no value, but I have a collection of attunables that I can see myself using from time to time. If the next chapter offers decent sets, I'm ready to go and get them same as you. I'm at the point where I'm merely gathering vouchers for the sake of vouchers.

I think having things to purchase is a great idea, personally, I think having a crafting collection tab would be a more long lasting solution that would provide a whole new layer of value to doing the writs. I'd be doing them even if there was nothing much to buy with the vouchers. Having something worth buying though would be an awesome bonus.

Of course, I opened with my situation being unlikely to be a burden to all hah.

Although, don't forget, having crafted items unlock as you go, would benefit anybody doing writs, not just late game players. If anything, it would be of more value to those that are getting into master writs, as they unlock as they go, for a player like me, unless it was retrospective, i'd have to redo every writ i've ever done to get the unlock.

It would mean that players getting into master writs won't ever hit the wall that some players such as myself and others in this thread have hit. Doing writs will always be of some sort of value regardless or voucher payout or desire to spend them.

From a purely gold value (ie. you will just sell what you buy with writ vouchers for gold) is completing master writs even worth doing or are the mats as valuable as what you sell in gold? I'm legitimately asking as I haven't run the numbers in ages and with gold mats on the upswing and values of writs cratering I wouldn't be surprised if these things were a net loss.

In any case, it does feel like master writs are neglected. A few new gold furnishing recipes once in a while dosen't really blow up my skirt. My list of things I want:

    1) Gold crafting mats for sale for writ vouchers. This would provide an always important use for, and value floor for, writ vouchers. It also make a lot of sense to be able to buy crafting mats with the reward you get for being a good crafter.

    2) Nirncrux and transmute crystals for the same reasons.

    3) A wayshrine to leave my house with to avoid the double loadscreen porting out. Preferably, this would be a small wayshrine and not the whole covering structure as well and preferably I can choose the style. (ie. I like the clockwork ones.)

    4) Master attunable stations that will do all sets and not just one. I am not going to fill my house with every set like many guild houses. This looks stupid and would take up all my slots so that I couldn't decorate my house. I want one station that will do every set. Perhaps you could do the base master stations for say 500 vouchers with 250 for every set slot. That would allow those who have bought all the individual stations to turn them in for slots in an all in one station. ZOS can't really think that houses with 700 crafting stations lined up are a good thing. It is pretty ridiculous. The base master stations should look badass as well instead of like every other crafting station.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

The first two, except for Transmute crystals, are somewhat cyclical, meaning you use mats to do writs to buy mats. 3 would be great. I often have to jump to the nearby 'apartment house' in order to avoid the fee, pretty annoying.

As for 4, a good way to do it would be, if you buy 10 Attuneable blacksmith stations, and have them in your inventory, you can click it and it will turn into a Master blacksmith station that has all crafting station you character has visited. That would be a total of 2500 vouchers, and that way people that have kitted out their houses with every set won't feel like it was all wasted, they can use the first 10 they have and sell the rest. That would be 10,000 vouchers to have all sets Black / Cloth / Wood / Jewel. Expensive, but reasonable.
