[SOLVED - NO BUG] Deadly Strikes + Hurricane = bug?

Hey,

so I did a few tests with new Deadly Strikes set.

For every "parse" I used a new 3 mil dummy (to eliminate new amplitude passive). All I did was to stand in front of it and activate Hurricane, no light attacks, no weapon swap.
Only gear piece i swapped was a medium belt - in test #1 and #2 I used an impen Deadly Strikes medium belt in purple with purple stam enchant.
In test #3 + #4 I used an impen Clever Alchemist medium belt in purple with purple stam enchant.
So stats and passives remained the same. Test #1+2 had full 5 piece Deadly Strike, test #3+4 only had 4 piece.

Here are the results:

#2

#3

#4

Can anyone explain:

a) First tick of test #3+4 dealt 605 damage, with full 5p it did 656 damage - > that's an increase of about 8,4%. Last tick of test #3+4 dealt 1154 damage, with full 5p it did 1209 - > increase of only 4,7%. Why is that?

b) with the full 5p of Deadly Strikes (test #1+2) the 5th and 6th tick did the same damage (814, 814) and the 10th + 11th tick did the same damage (1012, 1012). Why?

It's not combat metrics, I activated the in game Combat Text in settings and saw the same outgoing damage numbers as with the addon.
Help please!

This is purely my guess but for:
    a) its because of how math works and how the damage stacking works. It is basically additive. So lets say first tick is increased by 10%. Last tick will be increased by 150% and 10% => 160% which is only 4% increase.

    b) No clue.

Thanks for the answer, that was also my guess, but that's kinda stupid how damage calculation works..underwhelming results :-(

its not just strange with hurrricane, but also not effecting either Clatrops nor Endless Hail...which In my eyes are both DOTS...and DS doesnt buff it. :/

HUrricane I can only assume that its because of the Amplitude passive from Sorc, you'd need to test it on a 52mio dummy, which you reset afer each try, then the results should be closer ;)

Are you basing DS not buffing hail and caltrops on the tool tip?

For this test to be worth anything, you need to take the skill points out of amplitude.

Also all percentage based amps are addative with each other, even the 300% increase on the final hit of flurry. The only exception to this rule is bloodthirsty, it is multiplicative.

dont remember, I did some tests with it but dunno anymore
the Tooltip does definetly not change!

Jeah amplitude unskill should prob also help ^^
    and reset CP aswell.

BUt even without resetting CP, there shoul dbe a difference in DMG/ hit with DS compared to no DS

I did more tests, for me and for you :P .. DS does buff Caltrops and Endless Hail. Tested on multiple 52 mio dummies. Interesting that the dmg amplify factor got closer to 14% - both Caltrops and EH did around 13,4% more damage.
Tested without CP and Amplitude passive.

5th+6th and 10th+11th tick of Hurricane with 5p DS also had different values this time.

So everything is fine, thanks for all the help!

That is because damage multipliers in this game are additive so basically less dmg multipliers You have closer to expected value You'll get. For example if You do not have any percentage oncrease bonuses and You'll add lets say 20% then You'll notice in fact 20% increase in dmg to what You had before but when You'll add another 20% to that 120% You have then You'll notice ~17% increase from what You had previously. Hurricane on stamsorc gets additional multiplier over other abilities that's why percentage increase will be lower then for other abilities. Numerically speaking though it'll be the value You want.

As for wierd results for 5th , 6th and 10th , 11th ticks of Hurrinca I guess it have something to do with the fact those are the moments when hurricane gets radius increased and that can cause results different from expected.
