Don't kick people who are actively trying from a PUG random normal dungeon

If you're on PC-NA hit me up. My girlfriend and I don't mind running with people. And we don't kick unless you're a total tool or a fank.

Cause that happened to me and I'm mad about it. :)

gave me a whispered explanation afterwards that I wasn't using the right tank skills.

This was a random normal dungeon using the dungeon finder. I'm a returning player trying to get my feet under myself again. It takes 3 people to kick, so don't be one of these jerks.Give people a chance to learn.

I just needed to vent. Thanks.

You learned to use tank skills as a tank... exp gained

For a normal run, it is a lil bit harsh, but i can understand that the grp wants their members to fulfill their designated role (as you que as such). For example, if we get a "DD-Tank" (norm or vet, who cares), and he/she can't write or is not nice, kicked.... why should we shuttle pseudo tanks through an instance ? my 2 septims.

Well, sometimes I also ignore such ppl, do the dungeon, and leave without words, because they would be wasted on them :disappointed:

    Edit:
Pls, no harsh feelings, IF some1 writes that he/she is inexp., or just started to play again, that's a diff. story... BUT COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED ! :) No comm, no grp. It's a mmo not an single player game.

I tried to run something as a very low level with a dude who crafted me a set of armor for free, least I could do right? He was very high level and proceeded to crap on me because basically I couldn't even kill one enemy and I was getting mobbed. I don't know exactly how the level scaling worked at that time, but neither did he. He was a total A-hole about it to the point where I was like, take your friggin armor back.

It happens man. Don't let it bother ya too much.

Now I'm a cp450 or so. Trying to change my username. Once I do, I'll post here and you can friend me if you want someone to adventure with. :)

They should have told you something was wrong and given you a chance to correct it. That's not representative for a normal dungeon pug. Try to let it just bounce off of ya' and go about your business. As a tank, you can re-queue pretty fast.

I think they were speed runners who in fact favor normals.

If you were taunting, then they're jerks. But if you weren't taunting, then you're the jerk for faking your role. I've had plenty of fakers admit that they were just trying to bypass the long DPS queue. That's why I always vote to kick fakes, and drop group if the vote fails.

Most base game dungeons can be done in 4 good dpsers with some self sustain. So why to kick fakers - unless the group wipes on trash from the beginning? I was in several runs where the faker declared he was a faker at the very beginning and there was no problem.

I got kicked once because I apparently wasn't taunting the boss. Nah, I was, it was the numbnuts with the ice staff who was screwing it up....

Don't let it get to you. I've had my tank kicked from Darkshade II because you can't taunt or CC the Engine Guardian, and so a tank's not needed. You'll be able to find other instances where you do everything needed, and you still get kicked, such as letting in a friend just for the final boss, because they didn't want to carry them all the way. Stuff happens.
That is correct, if group is full of noobs they might not know this.
Tank can either go DD if capable or he can taunt trash and pull in front of boss inside AoE, you want to debuff boss however.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

if they're going into normals RELYING on proper/preferred tank skills then they did you a favor.
I'd rather be kicked then suffer 5 minutes of bowtard light attack spamming and miss ice staff of clueless and can't read heavy attacking then running out of the room and resetting when they pull aggro.
Also correct, yes you can run into groups who are nice but not capable like trashy / noob builds in MoS or bloodroot, however hanging out here is an good training for vet mode as you have to follow mechanic.

Install combat metrics. You will know that it's not you to blame, but your group dps. Though tank has ~50% impact on group dps, and that's where you will learn about "proper tanking skills".
Still your group was toxic, I tanked all vdlc with exception of latest in tank without crusher, simply because at that point i didn't know that such enchantment exists and i don't remember any complaints from groups, though it was much harder then know when I use "standard trial setup".

Yeah I was taunting. I was chaining, I was using choking talons, I was doing igneous shield combined with green dragon blood.. I suppose I was using banner instead of warhorn. Perhaps I hit a few buttons wrong a few times.

Thanks for the kind replies. It was a strange experience. I encourage people not to kick players who are present and trying. If things are that bad, it is YOU who should leave. At least in dungeon finder group.

lol this happened to me in Spindle of all places. I was on my 810 tank, we were thru 3 bosses no deaths and once we killed it they kicked me. And man their dps sucked lol. Above was all i was doing too. Normal random. Sucks lol but oh well. Lets 4 tank a dungeon F DPS lol.

I think a one problem is being able to spam "vote to kick". I've repeatedly voted "no" to kick a player because I could tell that they were trying and there had been no discussion between us about removing them. But one person just spammed vote to kick so many times that I ended up just voting yes so we could finish the damn dungeon.

There should be a cooldown on voting to kick so that one player can't spam the others until they agree. I'm always happy to spend a bit longer on a dungeon if there's a newer or inexperienced player. People shouldn't pug unless they're willing to accept that not everyone they group with will be super fast or efficient.

I would absolutely just vote-kick them in turn. And if that failed, I'd just let the vote-kick prompt stay open.

I'm vindictive like that. You don't get to pester me into doing what you want.

I healed a group through an Engine Guardian fight the other day without a tank (the tank dced or something). So you're right - you don't need a tank for that fight. But it's still nice to have one for picking up the adds. That group sounds extremely stupid for kicking you just because you can't taunt the boss...

I get kicked for says ‘dps is low’ time to time on my tank, nothing to do with skills, this type of behaviour is pure vendetta. Ofc i take my stand so i kick the fake dd every time i can. [snip]

Kicked without any word, no explanation, and blocked immediately by 2 of the 3 other players. The one other player was nicer, and at least gave me a whispered explanation afterwards that I wasn't using the right tank skills. Though he must have voted to kick me, so he is not innocent. But I got us through the first boss without any deaths and we were just finding trash mobs when I was kicked. I wasn't AFK, and I was trying my best.

Yes. This is a problem. A lot of times they will sneak in a vote kick right before a boss fight as well and other players accidentally click it believing it's a ready check.

In your case, I believe it was probably intended. Your other posts exemplify my reasoning.

It appears others also don’t appreciate the healer doing nothing but pewing out a few heals. *shrug*

You know what is even more frustrating? Being that player that doesn't vote kick because the 2 voters never gave a reason, and then to get kicked yourself by the same bum you were trying to keep from getting kicked. Like, really dude?

I just told you in group chat they are trying to kick you but I'm not going to and then you join in with them? Baffling.
