Wood elf/ Bosmer players: Has combat improved?

Pvp or pve. Overall combat prowess.

Tank, dps or healer.

This is NOT about stealth. I have several threads about that already.

If you are not a Bosmer and you have no interest in being a Bosmer then please just type your response.

Please note, saying you haven’t noticed an improvement doesn’t automatically mean the changes are bad, it simply means the changes are neutral/ lateral.

Furthermore, the goal of the recent racial changes was not to improve or buff anyone, it was to balance everyone so this poll is not to suggest that a different race actually came away with an improvement that Bosmer missed out on.

Thing is.... mine kill just as fast (pve - and given my mega ping) as they ever did (so YMMV). I never play my Bosmer in this game in stealth, and I don't spec into abilities/spells that improve combat from stealth. So *shrug*.... again YMMV.

I saw a big boost in stamina, which means my stamina abilities are improved. Stam regen is about the same. Note that I was and am NOT optimized for stamina, which means the flat number bonus works better for me than the percentage bonus.

But I'm going to complain about stealth anyways. You can't stop me, I'll see you comin'.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

It’s not about stealth like I said. I’m talking about the rest of the passives.

My answer is kind of... temporary. The faster movement speed after dodging in PVE is more of an annoyance than an improvement right now -- I tank, and I dodgeroll a lot when I do that, so suddenly moving faster during repositioning is causing me to swing my taunt targets around, since the faster speed means I get further with the same length of keypress during movement.

I'll get used to it, but I think boss NPCs all over the world are preparing a class action lawsuit against my tank for cruel and unusual whiplash.
AD is the best looking faction. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

More recovery (90 extra, from 2268 to 2352) allowed me to slot 1 extra infused wd glyph losing 110 recovery compared to murkmkre, while the extra stamina basically prevented me to lose max stam from the ring trait change. My wd has increased by 400 thanks to this. Taken this factor alone, I would already consider this a significant improvement.
But then we have hunter's eye. Oooooh boi am I LOVING this change. The 3m detection allows you to see people in cloak (idk if it's a bug or intended), which happens maybe 1% of the time, but still a welcome change compare to the useless stealth bonus (in PvP you don't stealth unless you are a trying to outnumber or running away and you finished your invisibility pots or smth). Yet the best part overall is the speed. That minor expedition post bow roll is AMAZING. It gives you some very much needed control in the fight, and suits medium armor characters soooooo well.

I suppose it depends on how one defines "improvement". Since I had to re-gear entirely with the loss of stealth, I now have a tad bit more weapon damage. So, against large groups of basic enemies, maybe I gain half a second to kill them all. If even that.

On the other hand, I have to fight more often, since I'm detected more often and can't be bothered to sneak all the time as before. I used to have zero mobility penalty for swneaking, not anymore, so I end up sneaking less often, which in turns kinda makes my character feel less fun to play, and I don't play her as often as before. So, it's not an improvement either.

But how combat is affected by that dodge roll thing, I can't tell. This passive is coupled with the useless stealth detection, so I haven't invested any skill point in it. Even unused skill points are more useful than this stealth detection thing, in the way that there might be something I can use them for later. This, I'm sure I won't.

Have more stamina regain with it stacking better with Sorc and vampire passive.

While roll Dodge penetration should of been anything else. I find extra speed allows me to react to things better.

Extra max stamina allows me to do a lot more things.

Are you seeing cloakers in melee range (3mmeters) or are you seeing them further away when you cast Magelight?

Nb that use cloak in melee range sounds like a panicked potato.

I'm getting same / slightly more max stam roughly as my redguard pre patch, but now I have 200-250 more regen and something like 150-200 effective weapon damage (from pen passive). Wood elf is amazing, hugely underrated race.

Overload rework. Power Overload now does physical damage and grants you the power of a tornado: You throw a brick at the target with a light attack, and you hammer your head into that brick with every heavy attack. We have decreased its Ultimate cost, but increased the chance that you get stuck in the animation.

I haven’t noticed the speed after roll dodge myself. I was tanking the new dungeon and in the fights I could roll, it didn’t seem any faster and in the last fight, rolling right off the platform was a big concern so I never rolled.

I guess as a tank, I haven’t noticed the extra pen or the speed but maybe I will when I’m running solo on that character in his dps set up

My wood elf nightblade kicked the drinking habit and now eats max health/stamina food. The Regen part of it was a decent change and now there is extra survivability and noticeably more damage.

This topic may not be about stealth, but my answer will. Sorry. :(

I was using the reduced detection range to stealth through my everyday content while still wearing efficient sets. This way, I didn't needed to fight a lot and these fights were fast.
Now, I need to else reduce my DPS by using set that boost stealth, resulting in longer fights, or rely on my regular sets, but fight much more often.
Both solution induce a perceptible lost of efficiency. It's pretty bad, regarding the fact that this balance of stealth and DPS was the hearth of design of this character. Now, I can only have one at a time and it make content longer. Not harder, just longer, which is bad, regarding my lack of play-time.

Outside of theses "daily" contents, I tried dungeons but did not see any improvement here. The new "dodge and stealth detect" passive seems to have no impact on my play-style.
About the others, well, I did not see any significant change. The +1000 max stam might have some positive impact, but my character having lots of stam regen, I tend to feel a significant loss in my recovery with the transition from percentage to a flat number. I just need to get used to the fact that I should now include recovery tools in my rotation, but it is not that much of a change... I am just "slightly off", so it is not exactly negative.
The hardest part is that i now need to remember changing my stuff before entering group content. I never did it on my main.

I would tend to conclude that no impact on group content and negative impact on solo content is 0 + -1 = -1, so I feel weakened after the change. The worst part being that this character was designed for solo, not group.

Patch hasn't dropped for console, but I know the answer is going to be this for my character. I built her around dodge rolling to begin with, so I just laughed hard when I saw the racials changed to perfectly suit my character.

Except for the stupid loss of stealth. We're not going to talk about that.

? I have no idea what you're asking. I have huge ping. So nothing that you "normal" players do is the same for me. By "huge" - I'm talking 2k + ms. So really, a small change like this doesn't affect what I do at all. I don't play my girls in stealth. And killing works just as well now as before. In other words.... slowly, and not worse thankfully. What do you want me to say? That this changed my Bosmer world?

    Sorry. It didn't.

Oh, btw - I can't reliably doge roll, just like I can't reliably bar swap.... mega-ping will do that you know. This is why I don't group. Among other things.

I thought about making a Bosmer tank just because off meta builds are fun to play, and based on your feedback, I won't be putting any points into that roll dodge passive.

My char feels about the same, maybe slightly more stam regen which is nice.

This is my thoughts too. Stealth was a big part of my Wood Elf. Bow main bar, DW back bar. Designed to be a dark ranger type character. I lost a big part of my playstyle for not much of a gain, if any at all, to the rest of it.

I have tried the new Wood Elf changes and noticed no changes to its in-combat prowess (I already had sets for non-stealth play that I used in group content, or when stealth wasn't optimal). I too mostly solo played, with some group content. So to me, I lost 80% of my character with no noticeable gains to the rest of it.

My sub runs out very soon and I will not be renewing it.

Meh, move a little faster after dodge roll. Mostly negated by snares so kinda not noticeable. Stats are a bit better than before, but so is every race pretty much, so feels like a wash. No more Disease immunity, I feel a lot weaker to things like Incap but I cannot fathom the status effect is actually procc'ing that often. I feel weaker by contrast with other classes I've tried and in PVP, but about the same overall if just looking at my own performance in PVE.

Mine has stayed about the same. Lost a little damage on my opening from stealth attack, but get a touch more from improved max stamina and recovery.

Now if I was actually good at my rotation or could be bothered to get a good melee set that might be different :)

Bosmer medium stamblade in PvP is SO GOOD right now, as you dodge roll quite a bit to mitigate damage, it also grants you high uptimes on a buff compareable to 1 piece kraghs + minor expedition.
Needless to say if you play medium with bow and you dodgeroll on that bar, you get pretty close to the speedcap and with sprint you definitly reach the speedcap, which also benefits the kite playstyle of medium.
Also the flat 258 regen, boosted my overall stats compared to previous patches and made me drop bone pirate for another damage set and it also gave me flexiblity in what food I can run.

I have more mobility on my Bow Bosmer. I think they should at least give a 1m reduction in stealth though, so it has a PvE flavour.
