Cheating video posted here got deleted. Any words from ZoS?

Well... We all saw that video, I think. Shameful stuff, and now that's removed (Google "eso forums cheat still in the game" and you should find the thread.) we don't know anything else about that.

Words from devs? Are they aware aware, or just muffling the noise? I hope they can fix that because that's 100% game changing if such cheaters can run around free.

They rarely respond to anything on the forums unless its to say they've removed comments or that they're closing a thread. It's interesting that the thread was completely removed though. It would at least be reassuring if they commented on the thread showing that they're aware but them deleting it entirely makes me think it won't be fixed any time soon.

    This.
They don't want the crisis to escalate to hundreds or even thousands of cheaters.
Sadly, There are those who will exploit when they see active exploits, no matter the consequences.

It was taken down because it exposed someone by name. They'll work on banning the cheater and others who intend to cheat. They never comment on issues like this but they do act. You guys don't need to turn it into a conspiracy theory.

Not sure how else to look at it to be honest. When ZOS plan to fix things they usually make a post about it prior and when they don't they stay silent. Siege damage bug was acknowledged extremely quickly and fixed in the next maintenance patch.

Wasn't it the one that linked to a guys Youtube? That's more or less good enough. Either way, game companies never keep that kind of discussion up for too long. I'm not surprised it got taken down in the slightest. I wouldn't be surprised if they took this down too, but I don't know ZoS as well as I know Blizzard, so we'll see.

The video in question, and all videos like it are a double hit to ZOS.

    They:

    1. Expose glaring holes in their systems that can be exploited.
    2. Make those who may have thought about cheating, but did not actively search for it, search for it.

Neither of these things can be spun in a positive way, neither can be beneficial or open a dialog that would be in the favor of the developer, so why keep the threads around?

They are never going to tell you how they are dealing with cheating, same way cops aren't going to give you their patrol route or their speed trap locations, it just makes people go different ways to speed or cheat.

That being said, anyone with a modicum of intelligence understands this game is rife with illegitimate players, we accept it because, well I'm not sure, but we do.

We have been trying to get it to stop forever, doesnt appear to be in the cards.

It wasn't blacked out to begin with. The issue is that posters are at very different real world times. And some of those who post stuff like this are very well aware of the times when there isn't a lot of "home time" moderation going on.

I don't expect them to tell us how they're dealing with cheaters but any kind of acknowledgment from them would be nice rather than just trying to remove evidence that cheaters exist.

+1 for Zenimax to implement Anti-cheat software to pvp areas at the very least.

Reported this one person who was obviously cheating numerous times.

I still run into him in random Battleground matches.

    He...
    -wears no armor
    -doesn't use shields
    -doesn't use any heals
    -has infinite resources
    -cannot take damage

I'm not great at PvP but I cannot compete with cheaters. Either add an anti-cheat software OR add a cheater tag to players who have been caught cheating OR put the cheaters in their own separate Battleground matches away from the honest players.

Let the cheaters fight the cheaters. That should be interesting... lol

Also, if we are putting on our conspiracy hats, it wouldn't be the first time, someone tried to implicate a member of the community by editing screenshots and/or video to make it look like they were doing something untoward.

That whole, "no naming and shaming," thing is taken pretty seriously, because there is a real risk of the community going on witch hunts based on scant (and fabricated) information.

first of why dont use the ingame function to report a cheater? hanging out people is never good idea and thus why i belive video(post) got removed.
zos(beth will act accordingly if an actualy *report was filled*, it will not go with a snap of a finger but eventually all players that eploit/cheat will get what they beg for in the end.
i do encourage the ingame report function next time .

ZOS has a security and GM team, but "in the game" is an old term as many GM actions don't require someone to log into games any more.
I can't comment more than I know they have them and I know they're active, that's mostly all ZOS has been willing to disclose.

    He...
    -wears no armor

And you know this how, exactly?

I mean, if he's running around without any gear equipped, that could be a visual bug. Kinda weird, but whatever. However, if he's got an outfit on, you cannot tell what he has equipped. He could be running sets without clear visual tells (I know I do), so it might look like there's nothing firing, but he's getting the effects he's chasing.

Alternately, he could be wearing the Nordic Bathing Towel, which looks kinda like the character is naked, though, they're really not. At that point, you might be thinking, "I can see their chest hair, clearly they're naked," and not even notice if they're using something with a visual callout like Briarheart because, "they don't wear armor!"

This also calls everything down the list from you into question because... frankly, if you're making this claim, I'm not sure I can trust you on the other points.

If it turns into a massive **** show, then it will be dealt with.

    Here's my thoughts on this:
    • If you see someone cheating, report 'em.
    • If you see someone spreading cheats around, report 'em.
    • The more people that start using a cheat, the faster it will get shut down. Unfortunately, if it's just one person, they've got a much better chance of slipping through the cracks, but if you've got a bunch of ****heads running around using them, that will provide more useful data for ZOS to ID and bullet their asses.
    • Finally, cheaters in PvP are a temporary thing. Especially if their preferred method catches on. Depending on your feelings, you may either want to stay out of PvP for a few weeks, or just keep rolling the dice, and reporting them when you see them.

Agreed with everything, I just don't like the idea of things spreading to a point where it gets ugly. I've been in games where it got too ugly too fast. Games that died for it. I've been PC gaming since maybe 96 or 97. Called me jaded maybe, but I like when the devs come out and say "hey, we saw it, *** is bad, we're on it". It's more of a reassuring thing. One or two weeks won't hurt at all, although the forums would be a hilarious poopstorm 24/7.

Trust me it's only going to get worse and worse real fast now. Unless it's really just few people willing to pay for the cheat and play carefully. -.-

SIGH. See and I've been saying people cheated in this game since the begining. So many people are just blind and naive AF.
