Volenfell steam blasts

I've never quite figured out the steam blasts in Volenfell. A Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/9851m4/noob_here_how_do_you_avoid_volenfells_steam_blast/ seems to say that flipping the lever in front reduces them, after a delay, without specifying what the delay is or whether it's all/just some of the blasts in the corridor. Does anybody have more accurate information or anecdata? :)

Also, does flipping the lever in back turn them off in all cases, so that you're not troubled when you run back out, or is there an interaction with the setting of the front lever?

Thanks!

The pauses between the blasts are long enough to run through.
Just wait at the start and watch a few phases.
You will easily find out when to start running.

That's certainly an option! But it begs the question of the proper use of the front lever. :)

You have to hit the front lever to open the door where the third lever is hidden. Found that out the hard way

There is steam all the time if you don't use the front lever. After using it, it is on timer, you can see when the steam will fire off because before the steam waves there will be steam indicators on the sides.

So the good case is the one in which the steam is periodic? Got it. Thanks.
