For PvE NB, Endless Hail vs Caltrops

Given the opportunity to run EH for drilling add-on mobs in PvE content, I thought I was running my character correctly. I've seen alot of NB running caltrops instead though and outside of the snare, wondered why? Shorter animation? More damage (seems like EH does more damage over time).

Can someone enlighten me? Got my first character to CP160+ and still feel like a complete noob at this game lol.

^This. Endless Hail and (Razor) Caltrops are both great DoTs, there is absolutely no reason to choose one over the other when you can just use both instead ;)
This poor little Bosmer stealth passive had passionate friends and a big loving family!

Most use both. In PvE you actually should be running both.

Mostly solo PvE here. My bow/bow characters (sorc, warden, nb) all run both - for good reason. The key is keeping your foes inside that awesome dual killing zone. I like bombard's immobilize to keep trash in the AoE and have to use decent survivability and get up close to hold a boss there.

I suspected this might be the case, especially for the tougher PvE content, but as I'm just running lowly 4-man normal pledges at this point I haven't noticed anyone running both, and usually just me running EH.

I'm definitely looking at how to add Caltrop into my rotation now, just need to probably transition from bow/2H (which my PvP usage) and have a PvE 2nd bow bar option.

    Thanks guys.

On a related note, having adde Caltrops to my bar, there are some distinct advantages that explain why it might be more popular (if not as powerful as EH). Faster animation to fire it off, noticeably larger circle. Handy for sure.

They are more than likely running endless hail. Only they can see the animation for it tho.
