Access Code?

Hostel_Striker
Why do I get an error trying to log in titled Access Code? I play on the same computer at the same place every day. When I enter a previous code (this has happened more then once) it says it's wrong and to try again or wait 10 minutes for a new code to be sent. Well, it's been well over 10 minutes and still no e mail..... and I still can't log in. Previous e mails indicate this is sent because I'm trying to login from a new IP address. How do I stop this from happening?

Each time it asks you for the access code a new access code is generated and sent. The old ones don't work anymore. You have to wait a long enough time so that you know you are not using the last delayed access code in your email.

There should be an option on the access code prompt that says "I didn't get an access code" or something like that. Have you tried clicking it?

I finally got on, but it takes way over 10 minutes to get the e mail.

What I do not get is why use the IP adress for a security check like that and not the MAC adress?

The IP adress is bound to be different each login for quite many users if they are using any dynamic IP. To make the user to wait for an e-mail just because the IP adress changed may be a bit more effort that they want.

    Suggestion:

Why not make the service more secure by providing the option to have an Access Code sent to the mobile phone?

That way at least the user has the option to choose between e-mail and mobile phone.

In many areas messages are received quicker over phone.

This adds another level of security as well because it is not that easy to get access to mobile phone and computer.

Still an easy ways to generate access codes may even be wanted!

Many users may even be happy to have an access code generated for each login!

This is really annoying. I agree that using the IP address is stupid. This is the first time I have seen this prompt since I started playing in the beta. I haven't received any access code. I'm in the mood to play now, not in 10 minutes (or whenever it send me the email). What a PIA.

I finally found a solution after working with ESO support. You have to uncheck the Remember Account Name check box before entering your password. As soon as we did that, my fiancé got an email with a code immediately.

well... i'm not getting any emails... and support is ignoring me... for about a week now...
so... i decided to post this on every post i find about "Access Code" (no matter how old) till the support decides to do its work...

    as an info...
i got such an email when i played on the beta...
as i didn't really have the time to do it earlier... i activated my account about a week ago... and wasn't able to login due to this problem...
so i already lost a week of my play time i already payed for (i did a pre-order on the digital emperial edition...)
so now i'm disappointed by the lack of support....
    anyway...
    have a nice day/evening/whatever

    @jabadaw
