It's often been the motto of Bethesda during the Oblivion and Skyrim days, something along the lines of "play the way you want to play"
Why?
I think it counts more for single player games because there is less of an issue with the need for balance than there is in a MMO.
I interpret the ZOS description of "play the way you like" as me being able to pick and choose which content I would like to play (trials, dungeons, PvP, overland, crafting dailies, etc.).
