I got bit!

So, the wife noticed a new 'buff' icon on my screen as we were going through our crafting surveys and treasure maps yesterday. Lo and behold! I've ben bitten by a vampire!!
So, the question now is, how do I advance my newly found thirst for blood?
I'm assuming there's a quest to gain full blown vampism?
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and any bites I can give will always be free of charge.

Here's the info on the quest and the NPCs you can talk to in order to start it: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Scion_of_the_Blood_Matron

"If you were bitten by a bloodfiend, you need to speak to Vorundil in Rawl'kha (Reaper's March), Evermore (Bangkorai), or Riften (The Rift), depending on your alliance." You might also be able to go to the vampire altar and talk to Rahaja there now, but I'm not sure.

Thanks guys. Is there a timer on this thing? As in how long I have to speak to Vorundil?
As far as free bites goes? I figure I didn't pay for my bite, so why should I charge anyone else?
Never saw Dracula charge any of his victims either.
I plat the game to play the game; not to see how many pixels I can bank

IIRC, it was seven days to do the quest. However, you can check that by going to your character menu and looking at the effect on your character and checking the time remaining.

Got it done last night, so y'all best be aware now :D
One question though. Am I right in assuming I cannot just feed on anyone?
    NPC's only?

To lower your vamp level, yeah, NPCs only.

Is there a reason I'd want to lower it? This is all kinda new to me.
I mean. I've always known Vampires & Werewolves were in game,
but never really paid any attention until now.

You got 4 vampirism severity stages, ranging from 1 to 4, each time you use a vampire ability, you advance faster to the next stage: there's pros and cons to each stage.
The biggest disadvantage is that you are more vulnerable to fire damage at stage 4.
Hence, in a dungeon like Bloodroot forge where fire is abundant, it might be more effective to lower the severity stage by feeding on an NPC or drink a Double Bloody Mara.

Stages not to be confused with vampirism levels
    Vampirism Stage= severity
Vampirism Level= unlocks abilities when gaining XP

...And welcome to the family :)
