vMA First Person

I've been making my way through vMA for the first time, and yesterday I got to the final boss. My DPS is pretty good and have been able to take down the Crematorium Guards, but I just couldn't get through the crystal phase. I was looking at videos and happened to see some with titles like "vMA First Person Challenge".

I happen to play the game in first person. I think this is an unpopular way to play. I've read some people get disoriented in first person, but I get disoriented in third person. I've played all Elder Scrolls games in first person. I find it more difficult to target in 3rd person. I found this very disheartening. I'm not looking for a vMA challenge, but my play style is the hard mode? The field of view is much greater in 3rd person and I realized that not seeing the comets or not keeping camera on the boss to see the skull attack is what is getting me on the crystal phase.

It just sucks that for me to finish vMA I have to deal with the additional mechanic of learning a whole new play style. I got through everything else after all in 1st person.

Are there tips anyone could give for fighting the final boss in 1st person? Or do I really need to learn to play in 3rd person first?

3rd person tends to be easier to play in this game since you can see aoes and what is going on around you much easier. That said, it's definitely not impossible.

(I tend to play other games like Skyrim, Fallout, etc in 1st person too - MMOs are the only thing I play in 3rd person because you really kinda need all the info around you to be able to play effectively).

I started out only playing in first person because that's what I was used to with all the other elder scrolls games, but switched over to 3rd when I decided to try out cyrodiil during midyear mayhem and needed to have a bigger field of view. It's a bit wonky at first, but you'll get used to it. Being able to see all the aoe and other stuff makes things much easier.

If you're really dead set on staying first person though you can go to the camera settings and widen the first person fov see if that helps a bit. Can mess around with the third person settings too to see if you can make it more tolerable.

Made it to the final boss in 1st person? That's pretty impressive. Here's a trick I use in some dungeons in 3rd person to increase the field of view, and it might work in first person. Using a windowed display, you could stretch the window to make the height shorter, and keep the same width. In my case I'm always in windowed mode and simply stretch the window's width a lot. The view angle grows to include things you couldn't see before that were out of your periphery. It does however stretch things on the sides, so mobs on the edges gain a lot of weight.

When I first started, I played in first person. It's how I played all Elder Scrolls games. Did nMA the first time in first person and most of the vet dungeons. And then I ventured into Cyrodil and was forced to change. First person is fine in PVE content. But in PVP it is impossible to react to attacks from behind if you cannot see them. Eventually, I shifted the 3rd person view into my PVE play as well and it is so much easier.

Yes, 1st person vMA is hard mode. It is a big thing you got to the last boss like that. You should make a video.

The game is designed around being in third person. First person is a novelty feature that exists solely for the nostalgia it gives some people who played the previous TES titles. For all practical purposes, it is an unsupported game mode, akin to playing without gear or without food.

Playing first person just gives me headaches, and you have such minimal awareness cause you dont have the 360 view around your character

I dont know how people how people play first person in eso, this is no call of duty

Thanks everyone. I'll practice playing in 3rd person for a while to get used to it.

If you want to beat crystal phase during the last boss in 1st person the most important thing is keeping the crystal between you and the boss. That way you will be able to see when the boss is about to attack you (just block it) and that way you can see the aoes on the ground. You basically just never want to stop moving or take your eyes off the boss during crystal phase and be ready to block. Tri-stat pots also make the fight much easier.

So basically, in first-person just keep the crystal between you and the boss, be ready to block, don't stop moving, and keep your heals up. Once you get the hang of that phase it becomes so easy that now I consider it a "breather" moment during the fight. If the constant damage over time becomes too much for your heals to keep up with just jump down to reset it.

I play in 3rd person but I needed to set fov option to smaller number because if it is like 120 or over I feel kind of dizzy. So try that and see if it helps.
Eso since Xbox launch and switched over to pc 1/2019.

Couldn't imagine doing VMA in first person. That's crazy.

If it's a nightmare to finish it for the first time (then all goes much easier because you've earned the experience and you already have the mechanics knowhow) in third person, i imagine doing it in first person.
You have my total admiration for going so far like that... It's already crazy just thinking about it 😰
