Vampire or not? (PVP Nightblade Magicka)

I was thinking of creating a PVP character, I've been looking at some of alcast's builds for ideas. I liked the look of the "Spectral" build.

Thinking maybe a breton, with this build the magicka regen will be quite insane, but my question is, is it worth making it a vampire also for even more magicka regen, plus the undeath buff for taking less damage? Or will the extra fire damage just get me destroyed in PVP?

I normally just PVP on PVE characters very part time, full divines noob etc. But I want to make a decent PVP only character.

Just sort of trying to make my mind up to make it a vampire or not.

Thoughts?

I know I probably should of put this on the PVP section but I wanted a broader opinion from the general forums.

In open world PvP, I think you can probably manage being a vampire (but the extra regen might not be worth it). But if you plan on doing BGs, I would definitely recommend not being a vampire. MagNB PvP builds are generally rather squishy, and in my experience, there are way too many MagDKs and Dawnbreaker users in BGs.

this, and even on open world vamprism has its flaws: fire, fire ballistas, oil, dawnbreaker and so on will hurt you A LOT

Not even with this range build? Because I will be spamming cloak a lot and the shadow image. I thought maybe if I'm avoiding getting hit in the first place it might work. But yeah i plan on making it my go to bg character. So your comment slightly put me off. Thanks for your comment though. Maybe that is why vampire does not seem to get mentioned for the build.

Is a tough one, i kind of want to be a vampire but I don;t want to gimp myself obviously.

    that's the problem @Neoealth

look how many ranged ultimates your nightblade has... maybe meteor from the mage's guild and that's all, you will end up going melee if not by yourself, your opponent will and then BOOM dawnbreaker in your face and 70% of your health will be gone

if I were you I'd go vampire and test it for while.

Would not go Vampire in 2019 as a Magblade.

If you're going to do BGs, be ready to get 7k damage from prismatic enchant every couple of seconds. Really common enchant in bgs and absolutely melts vampires.

    Ok few things.
    1. Going into BGs as a magblade is a masochism, it's literally worst class to go there.
    2. If you decide to play magblade in I'd say it's better to not be a vampire, as there is already a lot of LoS options, so mist form isn't as required.

    Open world PvP.
Fire hurts that's true, but I run vamp magblade for... ugh... very long time and can tell you that siege weapons aren't as much of a issue, event coldharbours are not as bad when compared to benefits of being vampire.
First of all if you play ranged magblade forget about fighting magDKs - it doesn't matter are you a vampire or not, they will keep their flapflaps 100% of a time so you won't kill any good magDKs anyway.

Mist form is a life saver. Not only it gives you major expedition, but provides you 75% damage reduction and complete cc immunity. Everyone will agree that snares and roots are out of control, mist form is hard counter to it for magicka characters.
As a magblade in open world you need to stay as mobile as possible or you're dead. Thanks to this skill on my magblade I'm almost as uncatchable as stamblade. How to use this skill?

Ok, imagine being gapclosed by someone spamming steel tornado or using detection skill/potion, you also see friends of the attacker otw to you, you have no shade up, let's assume worst scenario, you're standing in templars ritual or elemental ice blockade or permafrost, additionaly someone is starting to cast time stop on you. You're dead? Actually nope, I've been there many times and survived it. What you do is depending on your available options, but base for both escapes is mist form.

    Option 1.
Escape via shade + mist form.
You cast shade cancel it with roll dodge to net get stunned in the middle then immediately mist form trying to use LoS or if in open field as much distance as possible. Then you need to judge are your opponents still on you or they left behind on shade position. If they are on you port back to shade, if they left at shades possition use cloak.

    Option 2.
Escape via Temporal Guard/Precognition + mist form.
If you use this skill and have enough ults up this is the best way of escaping because it recovers you to the unharmed and undrained state + it can't be predicted. You just use mist form to gain as mutch distance as possible, when mist ends (or when it's about to end, I usually break it a bit earlier so my enemies can't time cc on me) use ultimate. Ive done this many times vs zergs and TBH it works 90% of a time (side note - temporal guard/precognition are a bit buggy since Wrathstone and sometimes this just wastes ultis and does nothing.

It also helps to counter any form of detection. Even when marked/detected, cast shield canceled with roll dodge then mist form trying to use LoS. Mist form reduces also damage that shields take so with full shield up when mist forming you're immortal for 4s, allowing you to move fast and freely into safer place.

Additional feature of mist form. You can use it when you're cloaked without exiting stealth, extremely useful when snared/rooted without any ground effects dealing damage at your feets. Just cloak, hit mist form and you can cloak away with buffed speed, you can also block cancel it so you remove snares and roots while gaining major expedition and also not suffering magicka recovery penalty.

    Wow... That's a long post :D
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.
