Is the feelings of how skills work together that makes you smile? Maybe, The visuals when doing the task? Then again maybe, Is it the form of support they offer?

    On a templar :
Templar is my favorite class to heal with because I find that the class skills work amazingly well with the restoration staff/ undaunted skills. We have a long HoT providing with a synergy with Ritual, a shorter, stronger HoT with Springs, an AoE burst with Combat Prayer, and a ST, stronger burst with Breath of Life. The second heal of breath of life enables us to be really reactive, even if people are not well positioned.
Channeled focus gives us an insane sustain and a good survivability and is not really matched by any other classes. And finally, we can complement orbs with shards to provide for a "fixed" synergy for our tanks. Templar also offers a "unique" debuff with Power of the light, and I like having that as a healer as I think it is my role to provide for more these kind of things.

    On a warden :
Lots of defensive buffs, which is nice but sometimes a bit overkill. I like the strong burst we are able to provide when the group is well stacked, but dislike the lack of reactivity when things go wrong. The animations are really pretty (even tho I wish they were a bit faster/ less clunky:3). I enjoy the high stats that warden gets with northern storm, and enjoy the high mobility using wings.
But compared to templar, some skills overlap a bit with restoration staff abilities. We lack a long HoT, combat prayer and enchanted growth are both strong AoE bursts, and budding seeds is, in my opinion in PvE, not really reliable as a heal itself (I use it only for the synergy).

As I do not have much experience on other classes I will stop here ! :3

I like menagation healing using bubbles and minor HoTs to bring back up when protected with bubbles dk healers could preform this role if one of the shield morph scaled of max mag

On a templar I can do a nice DPS rotation with a clear conscience, at least in most content. Shards has the best battery synergy in the game. Purifying Light gives a heal. Reflective Light has a little slow and a little buff, as well as proccing a little group buff if I'm not using Purifying Light.

I like using a class's unique abilities to find off-meta healing set ups that are fun to play but different across the classes. For example:

NB red-mage healer- Applying lots of hots while off-dpsing
Warden Super buff healer- It's pretty fun giving the whole group two full bars worth of buffs with decent group heals.
Templar splash healer- Once I reach 50 I'm gonna try making a build which relies on overhealing myself to heal the group while providing sustain buffs

My sorc is too low to know that much and still have no Idea how to make a DK work, but I think i'd make it shield-centric.
Starfire Protocol lvl 50 NB Redmage healer - Main + Master Crafter
Gives Good Heed lvl 50 Warden Super Buff Healer
Crafty Smyth lvl 50 Stamblade Poison Assassin - Farmer
Everyon's Pal Adin lvl 44 Templar Splash Healer
Stands Against Danger lvl 16 DK Tank -ex mule
Matriarch Tamer lvl 18 Baby Sorc Healer

I am least experienced in the healer role, but I have three characters that I've run as healers.

The story of how my black cat learned restoration is a curious one, and it led me to experiment with healing for the first time on a nightblade of all things. The whole "I heal you... by killing someone else" wickedly fit into her character as a naughty kitty who was trying to do something good (but just can't). The rework of malevolent offering to be a heal really helped her kit, and it's amazingly powerful. There are some giggles as I bleed to heal. I've been thinking about making a dedicated nightblade healer because of it. I healz you with blood i just too awesome.

My plucky bosmer became a healer somewhat incidentally. I have a secondary role for all of my characters because I'm told I suck as a damage dealer, so I queued her as a healer for some normals to get skill points. And somehow, it worked. Here she is, a stamina warden, and healing. Stamina healing... is a thing. And I've run with it a bit. It's not her main role, but being a bow-bow user who has pretty sweet heals is fun for being outside of the norm. I've gotten a few complements on it from randoms I've run with... one that wanted an encore and run more dungeons.

Oddly, the dedicated healer I've built is kind of un-fun. She's a work in progress, and I think I need to get some of her gear straightened out still. I like the visuals of warden heals, no question, but they are challenging to use compared to others. There's no easy radial heal with vigor, no easy burst heal like malevolent offering. My favorite thing about her is the sound of SPC proccing. And the costume I designed for her, I suppose - I made that scalecaller armor look good.

Judging by the lack of responses here it's a really good indication that people don't play healers all that often or don't really enjoy them.

Anyways, I have a Temp main which I've always enjoyed playing in dungeons (norm, vet and trials) but tbh, am finding really, really boring in open world now. Having to constantly change my skills around for open world or dungeons is a right roaring pain in the butt. Don't get me wrong this guy is amazing in dungeons, trials etc (I carried the last boss in Fang Lair yesterday when the rest of my team imploded - sorry can't Heal stupid, so me and the tank did what the dps couldn't) but I don't feel that awesome feeling I use to get by completing trials and dungeons like I use to. Why, it's simple - I'm no where near as needed as I use to be and everything is getting easier and easier. I can't heal one shots, higher level players generally know the mechanics and unless the teams dps is sub par I don't feel I have that much to do, as the boss is pretty much dead within 30 secs anyway. NB: non healers have way to many buffs able to be applied by themselves.

Anyways, honestly speaking he's always my go to for any Vet or trials owing to how strong he is! Pretty much does 10k plus dps, heals, buffs etc whilst also strong enough to tank most bosses when necessary and can carry most dungeons.

I also have a Sorc healer, it was fun but I'm not a fan of the pets. So she's CP 365 and completely unused. In open world she's basically a Mag DPS, but the problem though is if you spec to healing you lose skills/morphs owing to being the healer. IE: seriously gimped.

Then we're into NBH, I hit Level 35 and now play her once maybe twice a week. She's actually a lot of fun but never my go to. Sorry guys but I think of a NB as being insanely strong and I already know I can play her really, really well but where's the challenge! I find NB as easy mode.

Warden healer - I haven't felt much warmth towards him, so haven't played him much at all.

Which only leaves the DK healer. I know people will think I'm crazy yet I like playing her in dungeons. She does reasonable heals and does a stack of buffing, but I never run random vets with her. I've always found her fun and challenging to play, which means she's insanely rewarding to play. Can I recommend her though for the average player, hell no. I literally spend all game cauterizing, throwing rocks, buffing, heavy attacking, potion taking, watching health bars, tanking, orbing, and gads if you don't have serious sit awareness of you and your team, don't even bother applying. Basically other than in between fights you can't afford to stop to breathe.

Most people don't think DK heals are any good, frankly it's hard to argue against it as they seem to have a lot of weaknesses compared to other healers. Throw in every DK uses the same buffs you also give meaning you have to consider your load out when theirs another DK in group, but this adds to the fun and complex nature of her. Yet when I throw on Jorvulds I have some insanely big buffs going. I feel Earthgore is a great head piece for her as it bumps up her heal potential immensely.

Open world it's Jorvulds, BSW and Valkyn skoria for the fun of it. Best of all I have enough non heals skills in the tree's to not be completely gimped between dungeons and OW.

So ironically what alot of players believe is the worst healer in game is in my opinion the most rewarding and fun to play. The easiest being Temp Heals as can pretty much heal a team through anything, yet nothing beats the thrill of my DK healer for a run through Fang Lair, Moon hunter Keep and any of the dungeons we find in game.

I love my Templar healer for a few reasons.

    - The whole holy light of life 'feel' of her class.
    - Shards - nice dps + fabulous synergy that is instant and easily targeted/grabbed.
    - Purifying Light - Dps multiplier with a heal.
    - Extended Ritual - nice Hot combined with purge. Having this combo in one skill is very helpful.
    - Sweeps - Though not a healing skill and some could call it selfish, sweeps is what lets my healer hold a boss by the nose and solo them if the tank is a fake or the whole team melts. The reason it works so well on the healer is that, though her dps with it is not over the top, she can heal through any punishment she takes.

Short story: Don't like orbs. Don't like dedicating a whole slot for Purge.
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

I love healing on my magblade, especially in PvP! Some classes feel like you're just killing yourself to keep everyone up, but with a magblade, you can actually do it! Nothing like the feeling of spamming Offering until I proc my own Earthgore and still dying! Thats sacrificing yourself for the team!

Healing springs, healing orbs, rapid regen are the holy trinity by every pve healer. Barrier ultimate.

All classes offer buffs and utility, theres really very little difference from class to class for pure healers.

Nightblades never run out of magicka
    Sorcs have best survivalbility
    DKs have strongest heals
Templars can use healing orbs and holy shards
Wardens have best class healing spells

i like feeling like i'm making everyone's lives easier "don't worry about sustain, increasing damage output, or keeping shields up; i'll handle your resources buffa and health for you!" I really hope grave stale collector ends up being tweaked to be even better for support in 4 man arenas like blackrose. i'd love if it could be made to work efficiently in 12 mans too but that might make the set op and require more changing (cuz rn it requires adds, and during 12 man boss fights there are barely any)

I've tried healing on all classes and quite frankly, I don't find healing enjoyable in ESO, which is sad since I main Healers in FFXIV and still play end game content as my healers to this day.

I think the power creep has just made the role so meh because everyone can function fine in most content without you and you feel like a 3rd wheel. I mean, you're already limited in sets to utilize as well as what skills to use with class skills thtown in for utility/flavor but it still boils down to being little more than a buff totem. The OHKO mechanics everywhere don't help either.

I've healed at least normal and veteran dungeons with all 5 classes (yes even DK although that's more work than fun.)

My one and only full-time dedicated healer is a Templar so I do have a bias due to familiarity and success with it, but its healing style is predictable and nothing about it is thrilling despite its obvious top of the line competence.

My favorite? Healing on a Nightblade.

NB healing feels like something I do off the side of my desk while I melt mobs as a third DPS. I've always loved healing builds that heal off damage done at least in part. I played and loved both the Warrior Priest and Archmage in Warhammer Online for that reason and when I played a Chloromancer in Rift, especially in the early days, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

    I guess I'm just a heals/DPS hybrid at heart :)

I prefer to play healers but ESO is not immensely satisfying in this respect.

There's now only a few auto-targetting heals - resto staff healing ward and sorc twilight pet. A lot of PVE content is everyone zipping around madly trying to avoid red circles. That being the case those auto-target heals are vital. My warden - with a dedicated healing line - has to rely on the resto staff.

And when people aren't running around madly the resto staff healing springs is pretty much the bread and butter. Though I do get to use budding seeds sometimes.

Most other heals have little to no use in PvE. Vines isn't dreadful but resto staff's auto-targetting HoT is more reliable. Enchanted growth is directional and has shorter range than other heals.

I love the look and function of the new psijic heal. But with the norm being everyone zipping around madly I've had them on my bar and tried to use them but usually give up and use ward and or springs.
as a warden i enjoy the plants used to heal my allies. its very pretty.

Yes the warden heal visuals are beautiful.

I most enjoy healing in high intensity situations. I like to jump in the middle of the fight and heal or rez people while under fire. PVP healing gives me this the most. When your group's getting owned and you jump right smack dab in the middle of the fray to drop heal bombs or Nova or something then start rezzing folks! That can really turn the tide of a good fight. I have a set of Kag's I use in pvp and it makes healing so frickin awsome.

Also when I get focused down and survive, the enemy gets tired of trying to kill me and goes for my group. Then I ramp up the healing and they can't kill my group so they come back after me. LOL A vicious circle.

Of course I die a lot cause I get zergged down or just spanked by some amazing stam guy. But I have a blast doing it.

I like healing with DK, it is funny how people avoid cinder storm morph (ash cloud morph that heals or if you want to know more it's other morph is eruption) thinking that it is some kind of enemy attack xD

Besides healing with a little fireball or shooting rock at an enemy to save your ally is just awesome.

BTW: DK healers need more love, adding synergy to cinder storm would be nice or to obsidian shard (prefferable to cinder storm)

I like menagation healers that focuses on shields as main heals with a hot or two for keeping people toped off. Which is how I would picture dk healers but until zos gives a mag scaling igneous shield and another form of shield in there class kit won't be there. But I don't think Zos would ever make that happen because of sorc shield stacking issues they use to have. But atleast zos doesn't advertise 0lay as you want anymore when they ignore multiple play styles

I found a lot of enjoyment with NB healers due to their versatility in the group. They relied on several HoTs into to keep the group alive making. It felt akin to healing as a Sorcerer in DCUO with their many dots and I liked that. Not to mention their damage was high for a healer which made PuGs with bad dps more bearable. However, ZoS nerfed that playstyle to the ground.

Here's hoping Necro has fun micromanaging with their "corpse" resource mechanic.

Another thread necro, here’s my views from a pvp perspective:

Templar: Trying to be unkillable and specing half tank. Has some nice damage abilities like total dark and the execute that are easy to apply, allows you to fight back and hybrid to help your team apply pressure

Nightblade: Being a heal cannon. Specing just enough into survivability so you can elude enemies with cloak and dodge roll to let your team do their work while you’re keeping them up

Warden: Best at hybriding so far, best self defense toolkit but lacks a burst heal. You can really dish out damage and absorbing projectiles is awesome. Really nice group utility

My warden’s only level 42 so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I think:

If you like the unkillable tank healer style: Templar > Warden > Nightblade

If you like pure HPS: Nightblade > Templar > Warden

If you like hybrid damage: Warden > Templar > Nightblade
