Imperial sustain passive in Heavy armour

Hi guys

I was looking at the racial passive changes that haven't been released on console yet and in all honestly Imperial seems to be a really under the radar class that no one is talking about
for pvp specifically.

I'm no expert at maths (at all) but I think from my calculations I worked out that a heavy armour stamina character will on average get around 300 stam recovery for being imperial

Some of my skills in heavy cost like 3000 onwards (I'm a stamsorc main too which gets cheaper skills) so I worked out that 0.03 x3000 = 90 stamina saved per second, which on a character sheet would be 180 stam recovery assuming you're casting stamina abilities every second (which is quite possible in pvp).

Then when you add the second passive you also regain 66 stamina per second when casting direct attacks, which would work out to be 132 stam recovery on a character sheet hypothetically.

So if I got my maths right a heavy armour Imperial will have about 310 stam recovery extra just from its passives assuming the conditions are met? That actually sounds really good when you also add the 2k max stamina and 2k health they get.

Is there a reason not many people are talking about Imperials for pvp specifically? seems like Im only hearing about orcs, yet orcs would have to compromise with sustain if they were to run heavy armour.

Maybe my maths is totally wrong, feel free to challenge me, but to me Imperial sounds like a really good race to pick particularly given the expensive nature of heavy armour skills.

I think most people recognize Imperial as a very solid race for pvp and pve.

For pvp, all races are viable imo. If I wasn't so attached to redguard, I would've changed races to nord or imperial. Both are very enticing.

I played imperial as my main pvp toon for little over a year or so and my experiences after a day with the new red diamond passives after pretty much solidified my race change.
I tried doing all kinds of math to justify keeping my race imperial but in practice it did not stack up against the other stam toon options.

so I rationalized it like this. before red diamonds proc chance was so low it was like not even having the passive at all and I could go to a different race that offered more. just sharing my experience though. not trying to convince you from trying it yourself

You gotta brawl up imperial. Red diamond, like cost reduction and 300 every 5s, works when you extend fights. The health bonuses nudges you towards this playstyle and the stamina offers either DMG or utility pending which spectrum of DMG you play.

The icing is really the overall cost reduction. You'll feel it over long fights, especially on ultimates. Are they orc, dunmer, high elf in termsof raw DMG or interesting utility? Nope, but you aren't pigeonholed either and that's the allure of imperial.

May I ask what type of maths you did to come to that conclusion? Were you doing the maths in medium armour? I mean skills become cheaper in medium which might make the red diamond passive a bit less relevant, but I find in heavy armour builds where some skills can cost upto 4k (as well as dodge rolling and blocking being expensive themselves) it seems like that the red diamond passive can amount to a lot of sustain.

And then you get the 2k health AND 2k stamina ontop of that, as well as the flexibility to run a mundus other than the serpent.

People go Orcs because they have unchallenged damage, and sprinting is cheap/fast. For a stam sorc you should be moist at the prospect of those things.

tbh the sprint speed is irrelevant to me because I play more of a brawler playstyle in heavy or use snb in medium armour and only kite when necessary. I find that in most situations using Ball of Lightning and hurricane + sprint is plenty to get away and during my time as orc the 12% sprint speed I didnt as that useful as other things.

What I loved about orc was the 20% health recovery which would be stacked with troll king but taking that away made Orc a not so attractive choice to me.

Oh and I also think Orc will one day get a final small adjustment because its clearly meta in PVE so I don't want to risk that.

Orc and Prisoner's rags is just insane, especially if you do something like Battlegrounds. You have an unlimited supply of magicka without gimping your stats, because we all know how important mag is on a stam sorc.
Also, have you ever had those times where you just couldn't catch that dude running away from you? Not a problem on Orc. With minor+major expedition and Orc speed, you'll be chasing behind them while they're mounted trying to get away from you.
    You know you want it.

Orc should definately get an adjustment and I see it coming too. I'm going to race change my Redguard to an Imp next time crowns go on sale. I'm a PvP Stamsorc too btw.

Well, I've got Imperial stamsorc tank too, and though it is quite amazing with 40-45 seconds between horns, from CMX I see that actual recovery is quite lower then maths one. Best number I see from long encounter is like 50 stamina per second from red diamond, and often it is 30-40. So despite being in favorable position due to reduced ulti cost and 2K HP, recovery is nowhere near of my redguard warden and bosmer dk.

I think new imperial is worse then the older one, mainly because the advantage of imperial was highest max stats , which isnt there anymore. Is it still very solid? Yes, every race is. But for max stats Orc is now a beast and for max sustain redguard is a beast. Imperial is stuck somewhere between them.

Obviously if you want a little bit of both you could go imperial but mathematically redguard and orc are superior options, especially for a stamDk or stamsorc, redguard cost reduction+950 stam return is definitely gonna beat the imperial cost reduction and resource return.

Look Im not denying Orc is BiS atm especially for raw damage but all I'm saying is that Imperial seems to be going somewhat unnoticed yet their sustain actually looks really decent on paper which can give them some flexibility to run all damage sets and not have to compromise in sustain with mundus stones/glyphs etc.

Although I did say it looks good on paper, I haven't tested imperial cause Im on console but I really want to see if he can sustain in heavy armour with no glyphs/mundus stones to help him.

Except, I don't deny its decent. Every race is decent. Just saying the truth , for heavy armor sustain redguard shines better, because well, it always did, and racial rework only made redguard shine even brighter in that niche.

Well in CP campaign I'm sure you will sustain just fine. Can't make any promises for non-Cp though, where sustain truly is the game changer.
