Another complaint about the guild chat/contact list @handles. Official response?

I know there have been countless posts about this, yet none have seemed to get a single official response. For those of us that feel strongly about this, I believe we must look for other methods to get our concerns across to the developers. At least receive an answer stating that replacing @handles with character names is not possible and why.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how we could voice our concerns in hopes to receive a official response? Im not going to list the reasons for why this needs to happen. I think the consensus among all players is that they want this to change.

Any thoughts?

Pretty sure it is one of those things that no one likes or can justify it.

ZOS just seem to be ignoring it and likely hoping that people just end up accepting it.

I honestly have given up trying to remember who people are in my Guild now, too much effort trying cross reference peoples userID's with their character names, especially when there is a lot of chit chat going on.

Yea I'm not a fan of the way the userid works at all. I would much rather see character names or at least a character name@userid. Also it seems like a huge security risk, being the most obvious reason that a person would not want their userid displayed.

I agree completely. What's the point in going to all the trouble of logging in as soon as possible on early access to get the names you want first when people don't even see them. There isn't even name plates for ***** sake.

Also it opens up your account to the risk of being hacked if you are in a large trade guild with 500 other people who could be anyone and you give away your account name every time you speak.

    That seems pretty depressing!
The fact that we have to go out of our way to study everyones usernames is ridiculous.

A guild mate asks me to meet them somewhere. I show up and then they have to tell me their characters name... the last thing they should have to tell me, as their guildmate, is their characters name!

Thats fine as a temporary fix but there needs to be something official. At least a official response!

I would like this changed as well. Sometimes I want to play ALONE. I don't want people knowing I'm on when I'm on another character for instance.

Don't get me wrong, I like my friends, but sometimes peace is nice too. This is kind of hard to do when you join guilds account wide or add friends this way.. not even getting started on the account name/security issue.

security: make a REAL password and it is a non-issue.
    privacy: ??? seriously
I personally like the handles, makes it easy to find my friends

There's an option to set your status to busy/offline. It's not a sure thing but it's better than nothing.

As for guild chat, I'd like to see a few changes, if possible.

Like color difference (based on faction you're on at the time) for your name/handle when talking in guild. Already have 3 colors. This would cut down on confusion/legwork to figure out if you can go in a dungeon your guild is asking for people for.

A number notification for which guild is talking/you're talking in would be helpful as well. If you're in five guilds, it can be hard to keep track of which is /g3 and which is /g1. Especially if you leave a guild and throw your order out of whack. Something simple would suffice, like :
    [2:Guild Name] [@Player-or-Character]: Message!
^/g2, obviously. Slap a color filter on the name and you're done. Much more simple/easy to distinguish.

when i play games like this I am playing a character, not a user name. Its no surprise they havent done anything to cater for roleplayers when they cant even see this very basic point. Hell I cant even tell if a guild member is standing next to me, for if I havent meet them yet how would I know their name? They put so much work into making this whole immersive experience then treat us not as characters but a computerized name starting with an @ sign. Thats not immersion. Not to mention I don't want all my characters in a guild necessarily by default.
