CP system change additive from multiplicative??

Can someone please explain how going from multiplicative to additive changes things? ...patch notes said something about the first 100 points into each colour on the CP wheel. What happens after the first 100?
How does this affect how CP synergizes with gear ect? Did it make some sets better and some sets worse?
Please can someone clarify.

The first 100 cp from each tree gives you a 20% boost to your health, magicka and stamina. Previously, this 20% bonus was only apply to enchants, attributes and 2-4 piece item bonuses. NOW they have updated it to ALSO apply to passives, food/drinks and 5th piece item bonuses.

Nothing happens after the first 100 cp, the boost caps at 20% on the 100th cp.

Additive means it doesn’t go up as much and actually nerfs some builds. I don’t think you fully explained it

You would notice the difference more with a magic oriented build since there are more magic multipliers to pick from.

    I'll try to write it down the best I can;
Before the update, only certain 'normal' resources got the 20% multiplier, for example a set bonus had 1096 of a resource, which was multiplied by 1,2 = 1315,2. After this, certain multipliers (for magicka this could be something like 30%) were added, so it was multiplied with another 1,3 -> 1709,76. With this update, it will be a 1096 * 1,5 = 1644 magicka. So a 65,76 loss of magicka on 1 set bonus. This might result it nerfs for some people, but since the 20% now will apply to food, 5-piece bonuses and passives, those will be effected as well by the 1,2 multiplier (which they were not previously), so it will mostly compensate.
I'm a ps4 player so I'll have to see for my main magicka build, though I lost some magicka from racial changes so it will be hard to determine.

    Edit: spelling is hard

Im wondering what ZoS's reasoning behind the change is. They're not boosting the CP cap anymore and said they are looking into what to do about the CP system.... Wonder what theyre planning.

could be a temp fix. Also percentages off the CP system being multiplicative meant ALOT of calculations. Id wager it was done to work with the new racial passives, and help reduce server loads a tad.

    It used to be like:
    ((Base + Attribute + Item)*CP + Food + Mundus + Skill2)*(Skill + Buff)

and it changed to (as far as I've tested it):
    (Base + Attribute + Item + Food + Mundus + Skill2)*(Skill + Buff + CP)

It will be a small buff if you use Food/Mundus/Skill2 stats, otherwise a small nerf.

It depends on the specifics of your build. The Magicka stat on my build stayed roughly the same. My Health actually went up by 1400! So overall I got a nice buff.

I echo this response, all my toons max stats are Similar, +-500. You would have to me stacking a lot of max sets, ie bright throat and necropotance with max magic monster set to have lost stats.

Skill2 are "special" skills/sets values. Some examples include:
    1. Health bonus of Battle Spirit.
    2. All new racial bonuses.
    3. Most 5 pc special stat bonuses (Necropotence, Bone Pirate's Tatters, Bright-Throat's Boast, etc...).

Does this make 5 piece bonuses that boost max stats more favorable than something like Lich? If my understanding is correct, Lich enjoys no bonus to this new calculation and it's one max stat bonus dips by about 70 magicka.

Yet, if you were using Necro, Destruction Mastery, or some other skill - you'd be getting a big max mag buff because the 20% is only impacting max stat pools right?
