Who deserves the Stealth passive more?

Racial identity was supposed to be unique, right?

Khajiit are cats. Cats are masters of stealth with their soft paw pads and flexible bodies. They make almost no noise when they hunt (cept the cheetah, who would rather nyoom than hide).

Khajiit aren't exactly cats though. Being bipedal is going to make it much harder to walk quietly. Also, from little lore we have (mainly Morrowind), Khajiit are slightly taller and heavier than Bosmer which is another factor in favor of Bosmer.

Of course the main one, doesn't matter how soft your paw pads are once you put shoes on.

Good question, no reason for this to be an unique feature. Its more like the 2K resource or 258 weapon or spell damage.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

Cats wear shoes without soles, didn't you know? We would wear no boots if not for people who get angry when you try to enter their house without boots to take off. Something about bringing dirt and everything, like if their houses were crystal clear.

And while I think that bosmers were treated unfairly, I don't think that khajiits should lose their stealth affinity. I would choose option for "Both races should keep stealth bonus" if there was one.

    Bosmer because of lore
Though Khajiits can make excelent theives. Bosmer Culture a major part of it is the Rite of Theft. I think because of that, Bosmer should get it. But Khajiit should get the acrobatics and the Stealth Detection because cats are extremely acrobatic and have very good senses. Good Enough senses to detect Sneak thieves with. Khajiit do to many thinking they are like cats are mischievous and possibly thieves, while most might not consider that the worst offenders might be the Khajiits Next door neighbors who might be a hundred times worse when it comes to your items being stolen. People think of Bosmer as Cannibals, Not really looking at the theft thing while Khajiit equals cat aka thief race stigma and also seen as skooma makers. Most might not realize unless they know about it how important Theft is to the Bosmer, I would suspect there are more Bosmer thieves then Khajiit thieves. There can be khajiit thieves, but their culture is more about the moons and a metaphorical dance. The moons dictate their forms, and some are better for thieving then others but there is others that are built for being warriors and others for being mages.

Though not every bosmer and khajiit are what most think of them each one is different and there could be khajiit slavers, Bosmer who are against theft, Bosmer against the Green, Khajiit Thieves and Pirates, Khajiit who are against skooma or skooma makers. There is many factors and this could hold true to all the races. Not Every Orc Worships Malacath some might worship Stendarr or Azura or other divines or daedra.

As for the Rite of Theft, it really is part of the lore that Bosmer have a culture of Theft and In their culture theft is an honorable thing.
This is what it says on the Uesp about it.
The Rite of Theft is a cherished Bosmeri custom, though one which outsiders have trouble appreciating.[72] The Bosmer steal from each other, and upon return of the stolen item, they demand a boon commensurate to the item's worth.[73] In ancient times, the Bosmer Vanirion the Thief was renowned for demanding over two hundred payments after invoking the Rite.[71] In more modern times, the Bosmer of Greenshade are particularly infamous for their thievery.[49]

Outsiders who understand the Rite of Theft may use it to their own advantage. Three Altmer, the so-called "Heroes of the Sanctuary", once used the Rite of Theft to secure a safe port of Summerset ships. They successfully stole from various treethanes while keeping their own treasure secure, earning the right to build their own settlement, known as Seaside Sanctuary, on the shores of Valenwood

Both. For both Lore and Commonsense reasons.

This. Both races have been contenders for the title of "stealthiest race in Tamriel" for as far as the Elder Scrolls lore goes. That means, about 30 years, and 5 games prior to this one. That's always been some sort of friendly rivalry (at least in that field, I'm not talking about border control here), not a competition that needed a winner to be announced.

Bosmers have the rite of theft, the 1000 benefits of hiding, and for some of them even worship Ban Daar, the Khajiit trickster god. Khajiits, on the other hand, have natural agility and well, a certain culture of "if it's not bolted to the ground, they don't really want to keep it". It is even reflected in their names : "-dar" roughly means "subtle, ingenious and / or talented to steal things".

This opposition is manufactured by the Maths Team at ZOS on the false pretense that they were not "differenciated enough" (because I'm sure everyone here has always had a hard time telling a Khajiit appart from a Bosmer !), to justify some PvP balance bullsh*t that would make "everything unique". I call that watering down the racial flavours, when I'm trying to be polite. I can not post here what I call that when I'm not trying to be polite.

So, no, not everything needs to be unique. Especially when that means throwing out the window 5 previous games over 3 decades worth of lore, and 5 years in this game alone, in one of the most well-known and beloved franchise in the history of video games.

    They should both have stealth.

I tend to agree with the notion that cats are pretty stealthy by nature. Makes sense to me that khajit would have that quality as well.

Then again, elves dont exist at all, so who's to say they can't be stealthy by nature too?

I totally agree. I have no issue with Khajiit being stealthy as well. Allegedly a major factor of this update was to not lock playstyles behind races, but that's exactly what making Khajiit the only stealthy race did.

Hell, I'd be perfectly happy if Khajiit got the new Bosmer +3m stealth detection radius ON TOP OF their current stealth bonus (since Khajiit always had vision bonuses as a racial power) if Bosmer got our stealth back.

Then again that stealth detection bonus is 99.9% useless even in PvP since it won't help against stealth archers nor will it work on invisible melee opponents.

Voted Bosmer, but would have preferred 'both' as an option. 'Other' is too broad.

Both races have been thieves since forever.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

Bosmer are supposed to be hunters / archers. While a hunter occasionally stalks, the usual hunting looks like waiting in ambush then planting a well aimed shot. So I would say Bosmer should get something like a huge damage bonus when shooting a bow from stealth. Or generally a bow bonus, be it damage or range. The best archers of Tamriel, you know. Cats otoh are the natural stalkers.

I voted for Khajiit with regard to common sense, but even in the lore, see Rajhin in the Khajiiti Pantheon: "The thief-god of the Khajiiti, legend holds that Rajhin grew up in the Black Kiergo section of Senchal. In life, Rajhin was the most infamous burglar in Elsweyr's history, said to have stolen a tattoo from the neck of the Empress Kintyra as she slept.[35][38] He is accredited with using the Ring of Khajiiti in his thievery, making the ring famous. After his death, Rajhin was inculcated among the Khajiit gods, to serve as an example to them of cleverness and adroit ability. His blessing is most often asked for before undertaking activities of a less-than-lawful nature." -- from the uesp website.

That said, Bosmers are also famed stealthy thieves and it would bother me too if a defining racial passive was switched to a passive that a vast majority of players don't like.

Supposedly one of the aims of the changes was to make any race more viable for any role. That's why they nerfed all the % resource bonuses to flat ones.

Except they did the opposite for stealth. Previously you at least had two options for a stealth boosted character. Now there's only one.

Biased poll is biased. Both deserve stealth. Argonians and Dunmer also deserve stealth.
Bosmer deserve stealth a little more than Khajiit (right now) because Khajiit have a bonus to pickpocketing and Bosmer have no bonus to any justice interactions when there is a clear precedent for them to have one.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
