The recent racial changes have been (to some) quite controversial, I was hoping that these changes were going to be addressed during an eso live interview.
Now that it’s live, some of the race changes are still causing disruption. So what better way to talk about it other then an eso live?

What else could Gina & Co. say? The chances that they are talking about "forum complaints" about (controversial) racial changes is almost non-existent. And in the end they couldn't say more than we already know from the developer comments.

✭✭✭✭✭When the game came out in beta they spent many months altering the passives until they had what went live.
Comparatively these changes went by rather quick, and there is many lore and gameplay complaints about them. Even to the point that the devs gave a vague message of future systems that will correct some of the issues.
If these race changes are part of a greater overhaul, and we are just seeing part one of this, I personally would like them to elaborate on it, and I bet others would too.
I don’t think these complaints are going to reside much. I think they are going to be a constant ringing on these forums.
Personally I am tired of coming on to these forums hoping that the developers will elaborate on these changes. It’s a major topic that’s worth an eso live.3 -

It's like asking for an ESO Live dedicated towards DK Wings or NB Cloak because many people complain about those things in the forum.
There is no need to further discuss the changes. They were made, end of the story. There's nothing left to discuss about them, they're not going to change anything in that regard. If they were willing to apply changes based on complaints/criticism, they'd already done that. They don't care (and in this case I think it's mostly good that they don't) about forum complaints.
As I said, that's why we have the developer comments on each change. That's their reasoning/explanation. There's really not more to it. As it stands right now 44% are not happy with the changes. That is not “(small) parts of the playerbase”.

Maybe if ZoS elaborated more on the why of these changes and how they see these changes fitting in to the future of this game, it might help?

✭✭✭It would be nice if after major gameplay changes the devs would get on an ESO Live to answer questions and communicate with the community.
It makes me sad when I see devs do that exact thing in other games, and I'm sitting there watching the stream thinking "Wow, so this is what it feels like when the devs actually communicate openly with their community. Why the heck isn't ZOS doing this?"

I want the exact opposite when it makes sense. Regarding the racial changes it doesn't make sense because there's nothing to talk about. It doesn't matter if you like or I dislike the changes.
And nice for bringing up that poll, the majority likes the changes, e.g. no reason to talk about them. "Goes my way", what does that even mean. Not even sure we should count such polls when it comes to the necessity of addressing "problems". Something the community sees as a "problem" mustn't be one for ZOS/ESO.
As I said, we have the developer comments on the different racials explaining the why. And we have an entire post dedicated towards why they changed racials in general.

Really? You are going to rally around a 55% rating? You really think a 55% rating is a win? What was your cut off, 51%? Or 50.5%?
If you are running a business and you make changes that 44% of your current customers are NOT happy with, that is a recipe for trouble. No one should be happy with a 55%. That is a failing grade in school and in business. Coming home with a 55 out of 100 on a test is not something to be proud of.

In my original post I said; "The recent racial changes have been (to some) quite controversial" I did not say a majority did not like it at any time. But I could have said "The recent racial changes have been (according to close to half of the players polled) quite controversial" and base it on your own poll. But I was trying to be more diplomatic with the wording.
A number of times there has been some cryptic comments from Zos about future plans. And I was hoping that maybe if they could tell us how the race changes fit in with those future plans it could alleviate some of the tension on these forums. Again, is this a bad thing?

There may be some future changes that makes the current racial changes suddenly make sense.
In the cinematic for this game they keep showing a sorc using a sword. A battle mage. Right now there is no "viable" build that supports that. But maybe there is a future change that will make battle mages viable? And that the off spec recovery system for Altmers suddenly makes sense?
Previously Bosmers were one of the two stealthiest races in the game. Now they are as stealthy as a Nord and Imperials have a racial that benefits stealth. The net result is Imperials are more stealthy than Bosmers now. The developers have made a cryptic comment about future changes to stealth. Maybe the current racials fit into that change? Maybe they can elaborate on it?
There are other questionable changes made that suggest a future revamp of other systems. Maybe if we can all find out what they are and when they are coming out, we can all move on? Sheesh.

I want to know why they said "Additionally, since Sneaking isn’t a universal mechanic to the game (many enemies in Tamriel can’t be bothered sneaking about!)" And decide that stealth detection for Bosmers is the way to go.All over Tamriel, theres a sudden spike in Bosmers getting caught for their crimes. As I said, this goes back and forth and can be applied to every nerf made to a class or race. People will always complain about that, e.g. Sorc nerfs. Is that a reason to hold an ESO Live on that? The same applies to the racial changes. Argonian players are dissatisfied because they got nerfed (which was necessary PvP wise), Bosmer are legitimately angry about the Stealth removal and Altmer players are angry because of [questionable reasons] (they're still top DPS so why even bother).
Besides that there are barely any racial complaints, here and there for sure but all the complaints boil down to those three races. And out of those three only Bosmer have real reasons to be angry. So again my question, why have an ESO Live on a topic like this? ✭✭ZOS has failed to communicate anything since the announcement of these changes a month ago, aside from the every-other-week patch notes in PTS; despite being a 61 page long thread.
But I'll agree that Live isn't the place for it to be discussed, mostly because not everyone watches it. It also doesn't allow for proper long-form rebuttal.Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.1 -

Nords are not happy with their lack of Non-Tanking rolls. Dunmer and fire. Kahjits and Crit. Etc.
Class changes happen every patch, they are constantly in flux. A complaint today could be fixed tomorrow. Race changes happen A LOT less often.
Yes, I personally would like a definitive answer/statement/explanation about bosmers, but I am not greedy. I look around and I see a lot of complaints and I, in general, would like to see everyone to be happy.
If they are not going to change anything (as you claim) maybe give the player a extra clear "Why" so we can move on. Again, asking for the why should Not be controversial.1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Asking for the "why" isn't controversial in any way. It's just unnecessary because they already gave you the why for a) racial changes in general and b) specific changes to racials. They said what needed to be said. If it's not enough in your (plural) opinion that's fine. But they communicated the how and why already.
They will tweak numbers as they did in the past. So we can expect that for sure. Besides that? They settled down on the changes. We as players should too.
