Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Text search for guild stores doesn't work with Russian item names.

So, for us who use Russian localization addon nothing is changed, we still need the Awesome Guildstore addon to be able to search items with Russian names.
PS: and Zone Guide is pretty much useless on PC, addons do the job a lot better.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Addons are different in that they just process what you get on client side. Where all items are recieved from server and already has their localized names addon just hides those you've chosen. This system is another thing, it makes querries strait to the server side, so there is no useles trash to be filtered later on a client, which helps performance a lot. And obviously there are no russian names on the server side. This change is brilliant, it will help a lot to optimize guildstore browsing.

And as a native Russian myself I just cant understand why would one want to play this game with unofficial localization. Besides that it is not an original language (so you can miss something or get the wrong info, which I have seen a lot) it is just harder to communicate with another players and then there are these problems like this one. It feels like you are ruining your own game for no reason. Just play in English and learn the language, it is the best opportunity

Sometimes it's quite overwhelming to read English words and figures of speech I'm not familiar with yet. In this case I miss a lot more than if I was reading translated text. And I have to kinda pause a dialogue to figure out what exactly the NPC just said.
And obviously it's a way easier to read your native language than any other.
Speaking of issues while communicating with other non-Russian players, I have none. I have both Russian and English POI names on the map and dungeon names, gear sets are not translated by the addon in purpose of not to confuse people, and we also can link things in the chat so others could see the object in their own language.
So, it's OK, no issues here.
The only problem I have currently is that such things like furniture items, crafting materials, food and drinks - these are translated by RuESO addon, and I can't use ZOS's text search to find them. Looks like RuESO team now have to leave original English names for all tradable items so people could use new text search.

You may probably contact rueso team via discord or vk on this matter, they may have an update coming for this particular case (probably just original names listed in brackets or so).

You would be overwhelmed if you've found out how many english speaking russians are there in PUG parties. When i did some PUG sometimes the whole random party turned out to be russians by the end of a dungeon.

I agree that it is more pleasant to read walls of text (like in-game books) in your native language, other than that I dont see a problem.
I recall playing some RPG which was released in german only, and I was absolute zero in german. And to make things worse this was heavily text-based RPG. It was a pain yes, but still it was an interesting way to familiarize myself with the language. But then I found out that the game was bugged to an unplayable state so my german didnt improve much in the end :)

Being somewhat familiar with programs Im pretty sure it is impossible until there is an official localization

***. Guess all the russians in pugs will have to learn english and actually be able to communicate with people

Not gonna happen. We speak the language we want to speak and not the one we have to. :p

Oh yes that reminds me of that one russian guy in a large group who is utterly ignorant and persist on speaking russian despite all of the conversation is in english.

Oh yeah, I met one of those in trial lol. He kept telling everyone stuff in Russian and didn't understand why people didn't listen. Native Russian here too. Glad I know English, makes more games ( and also movies, tv series) 100% enjoyable.

I hope this guild search problem can be solved though

The game has no official Russian localization, ZOS only added cyrillic font to chat, everything else in Russian in this game is fanmade, so ZOS is not responcible for it. All questions must be addressed to those fans who make addons.

That font in the chat is most likely the Abracadabric font, it's definitely not a Cyrillic. Believe me, what you see in the chat is not how real Russian language looks. To see a normal Cyrillic you have to install RuESO addon, which adds real Cyrillic font to the chat.

It DOES work with the latest version of RuESO. You just need to update it. Quote from the release notes:

Going to check this out when I get home from work. If it's true - well, I'm sure it's true - it's awesome.
Thanks for that, and thanks to all your team, you make this game a lot better.

Why devs didn't fix it yet, by the way? Someone know? It's so lame to use the addon, when it should be fixed long ago.
