Stop Complaining About Being Scammed

This is a gawd damn M rated game for adults, of course there will be people scamming you in trades, mail, and guild bank robbing. To be honest it adds more immersion, you realize now that you have a small chance of being finessed in game by a real person. Hell its probably the closest thing to the justice system we deserve.

Edit: What’s even funnier is people are trying to judge each other for a moral wrong on a game, I hope all of you role play as monks be use if not. You could be just as wrong killing or doing anything remotely evil in Tamriel. I only made this thread because I was tired of seeing post about people asking Zos to refund their items after being scammed. Learn your lesson and grind for what you lost, that was the true meaning of MMOs to me. Kinda like Runescape pvp where if you die you drop your items.

Why [snip] should Zos reimburse any item that wasn’t lost due to a bug, please stop begging them to hold your hand.

Why should people roll over and accept dishonest treatment in a game that doesn't condone it? If you want to scam people to your heart's content, if you truly consider that "working" for what you have, go play EVE.

Scamming has no place in this game, as you agreed to when you activated your account.

Actually I’ve scammed probably two times in the entirety of this game since I started back in v14 days. One instance was accidental as I c.o.d someone a willpower sword back when it was selling high, I sent him the wrong trait by accident but he already sent me the money for the first one. The second instance was good ol citrine after someone showed me it. I’ve been scammed before to, it only taught me to be wiser. I feel it adds a GTA aspect to this game.

That's your personal preference, and also your personal flaw. Even in games like EVE, scammers are a minority, as most people seem to be able to get ahead without resorting to underhanded and low-brow tactics. If you can't earn it on your own, you don't deserve it, and you sure as hell aren't taking it from people who can and have.

Nobody wants to be around someone like that, and it speaks to more than just your attitude towards a video game, when that is your default approach to any given situation.

I’m not saying everyone should scam, what I’m saying is after sharing a guild bank and giving people access to it. Why should Zos be responsible for what happens if someone decides to go sicko mode and steal. Have some common sense, not every one you play with is going to do good the entirety of the game. You complaining to Zos about lost items to scamming is like you killing innocent in town and being chased by guards till you run out of town. Where the hell are the consequences.

No, what you're saying is scamming should be condoned because it's in the spirit of the game, through some twisted view and mindset. Advocating, as well as admitting to doing it yourself, is not taking the high road; You're not doing yourself any favors.

Also, I don't give out personal information to randos, especially dishonest types, so no, I'm not telling you my age.

So apparently killing anyone in a game can exhibit some behavioral issues I guess, according to your logic.

Wow, you should be proud. Coming onto the forums to brag about how you've scammed other people on purpose.
And not even clever enough to figure out your *own* scam.

Found the scammer, and also the anti-social guy who has never been part of a large, well-organized guild. The work must be shared, there is simply too much of it to be done by one person. In a large trade guild, the guild bank gets full and must be cleared out multiple times per day because of donations. These donations are auctioned off to pay for the trader. One person simply cannot do all the work in those circumstances, it is asking too much. Any GM who did that for any length of time would burn out. In one guild I am in, it is a real life couple who share the responsibilities, so that works well. In another large guild, there are a few trusted officers. One of them could decide tomorrow to take it all and run. The system as designed by ZOS doesn't give people adequate tools to safeguard against scammers. For instance, COD mails should not just have a little icon of the item. Too many items look identical. The popup should list what you are getting. A simple design tweak. Guild bank access could have limits, maybe only taking items but not gold. Simple things that would make it much easier for people to guard against scammers. Without ZOS doing this, they are condoning scammers even though they deny it.

I admitted I scammed in game to show that yes, average people do it. Just like how people go to pvp to kill other people which is morally wrong, how can you judge someone for scamming another person. Back on topic, I don’t condone scamming nor do I care if you have been scammed. It’s not Zos’s job to reimburse your “stolen” items.

If you truly want to roleplay as a thief or a member of a thieves guild, it should be "fine". Don't get me wrong, I don't support scamming but we also don't need handholding.

Now see, this is something you hear all of the time from actual thieves and crooks. "Anyone would have done it." "I'm not the only one."

You're trying to shift the blame off of you, and onto human nature by pretending that the average person engages in scamming behavior. Blaming anything but yourself.

Scammers are not average, they're not the norm, and they're definitely nowhere close to the majority. Especially not self-admitted ones. I suppose that takes a special kind of uh.. mindset.

    Ummm...no.
Average people don't take advantage of other people.
Comparing to PVP shows your ignorance of...well...functioning society. PVP is like entering a contract, anyone who decides to PVP knows they will probably be killed. That isn't morally wrong.

What you have done is not only morally wrong, but bragging about it is reprehensible.

You made the topic, crowing to defend your anti-social behavior. ALL of your anti-social behavior is on topic.
I hope everyone who sees your name kicks you from their guilds.

PvP is encouraged. Scamming is not. There's a difference between these things and if you can't discern between which is appropriate and a part of gameplay and what isn't... Well...

If you're not a scammer... what do you care if other players report scams to ZOS in the hope of reimbursement? Why do you even care? If you like the fact there are scammers in-game because it makes the game feel edgier to you... why don't you post about how cool it was when you got scammed?

Good statement, when I was scammed I didn’t ask Zos to restore my gold. I’ve lost and learned.

A player scamming another player is emersion and somehow a justice systyem?

Who thinks is such absurd and twisted manner. A scammer is the only one I can think of that would even try to justify that behavior.

Why in the heck do you care. Better yet, it really is none of your business and again it seems rather ridiculous you would even try to justify the behavior of a scammer.

Lol why do you think after 5 years Zos hasn’t made any changes to the way trades and c.o.d works. They realize why should they have to monitor an adult to perform a trade.
