What do you chase when you have your build gear?

SgtSilock

Aside from collection items or course. I have my build items, except for a my maelstrom weapons, but it seems like aside from that my character is complete.

When you play an MMO like WoW you are always hunting and finding better gear to raise your ilvl and become stronger, but what do you do in this game after you have your gear? I run through dungeons now for CP not for gear, and the gear I do get is used for levelling my crafting.

This isn’t a dig at the game, as I am enjoying competing the zones and guilds, but I am curious about the above.

Thanks ; )

Why do you need something to chase? I'll do the new story content when it comes out. I'll do repeatable content like dungeons/trials for the fun of it. I'll decorate a house. Or if I'm truly bored, I'll take a break.

I usually just look at my achievements from my alts and try to get little side quests done etc. I also do a fair amount of trading I'm usually consumed with various guild activities mostly involving helping others with obtaining items they're chasing ;) .

I don't know why but i do need to chase something. I dont like the chase and prefer to already having it and enjoy the game. But without it, its hard to enjoy the any content as i feel its pointless. Chase gives it meaning.

Well, it depends on what you're running.

Sure, there are overall "BiS" sets to get, but just because Relequen/Siroria for example are great for their respective dps archetypes and the suggested sets doesn't mean it's great in every situation. There are plenty of fights where you can't stand around or stay on one target getting stacks of things. most end game players have multiple sets for different trials or specific boss fights or trash pulls. You might want a set with extra penetration if you're in a group situation where the tank needs to play selfish or isn't geared to drop resistances. You might need some eternal yokeda weapons and jewelry as a dps for specific hard encounters while learning them or trying for a no-death.

In WoW you're constantly looking for incremental upgrades to push your ilvl; in ESO you're looking for situational sets to help for specific challenging goals.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

To be able to play all the roles and different classes efficiently is the starting point. Also, to have an in-depth understanding of the game and have the ability to theroy craft and refine your own builds to your playstyle of the different classes of your multiple characters. So you can get the many sets for your many characters for PvP/PvE/Trials, the right traits, transmute stones when you don't find those traits, mats for crafted sets and upgrading what you farm, getting the many skill points you will need through quests/dungeons/PvP, having all your skill lines maxed out that you use so they are more potent, enough skill points for those handy passives that are not class skills, and to be able to adjust and regrind when they are nerfed. Content wise the game is gigantic with lots to do for years but the most important part is having fun. :)

Hmm. This game isn't about chasing gear, leveling up, or any of that stuff to me. I don't think in terms of "builds" either, I create characters. When I go through the character creation process, I pick out gear sets for them that complement the character concept. Once I get those sets, that part of making the character vision a reality is finished, though I sometimes revise it later on. Gear is only one part of the character, though. Style is extremely important, so getting them an outfit that fits them is more important than gear (in fact, before the style system came out, I frequently prioritized fashion over function). While I haven't gotten into it much, there's also where they live and making a home for them using the housing system. But the biggest part of my characters by far is the stories to tell with them by going through various content areas of the game. And this game is bloody HUGE. My first character is the only one who has done all the quests in the base game, chapter zones, and DLC zones. I have plenty more to explore with my other characters. And if they ever get done, there's always creating a new character. I never run out of ideas.
