I for one would prefer class change tokens to race change ones. My Khajiit sorc toon is a Khajiit. That’s his character and I don’t want to change that. What I might want to change, or at least have the option to change is his class. Given I spent a bit of time choosing to make him a sorc based in part on his racial bonuses and have put a lot of time into his playing XP, it’s a bit unfair to move the goalposts without giving me the chance to rebalance him without sacrificing his Khajiiti identity.

As he is one of 9 toons, each of whom have spent over 6 months in game, I really don’t get the 3 race change tokens and that’s your lot garbage.

Ultimately, I think if ZOS is going to the trouble of introducing a significant change to race abilities, everyone should be able to assess how these affect each of their characters and be able to change them for free (or at worst for a derisory amount of in game gold) at least for a reasonable time. Anything else is just rude.

But hey, it’s ZOS and we know how much they care.

I hope there are never class change tokens or alliance tokens. It would seriously harm the game.

Please tell me how it would harm the game. :D
    It wouldn't.
Wtf... I have main that I put a lot of time in(skyshards, quests, motifs, achievements, etcetera) and "making a new character" isn't an answer for me. What, make level 50 necro shill and do all the stuff(AGAIN) that took me YEARS to complete on my main? I have already went with fallen templar trope, changing class to necromancer would be a formality at this point. Everyone that wants warden/necromancer to be their main is at a disadvantage right now. Not to mention that CC tokens should have been introduced with Morrowind, it's long overdue.

Suma summarum - introducing class change token is a necessity at this point, it will be a bigger issue with every next month.

So im only down for a class respec if its only given to us when a new class is introduced... and only allowed to be used within a certain amount of time like.. 30 days you can keep it and decide but once you change it thats it...id even go as far as to say its only allowed to change yout o that new class ...

That's actually absolutely fair and I'd be perfectly happy with that arrangement.

I'm curious if this is a consequence of the new class (Necromancer), or if people are talking about changing one of their character into a class that already exists.

It's the consequence of a very alt unfriendly game. People want to try other classes without having to do all the tedious nonsense required to get a character ready.

If it's that tedious then maybe this isn't the game for you

I’ve never understood this logic. You know how big of a pain on console lorebooks and sky shards are? Plus leveling undaunted sucks. Leveling to 50 is annoying in itself. No grinding up in Spellscar or whatever method you use is not “playing the game”. Most people want this option to be able to take that class into Cyrodiil, BGs, trials, etc. that is the endgame. That is “playing the game”.

They also said no dragons in eso ever. They also said no more classes would be added after warden. Point is: they lied.
Skill lines in this game all work the same, no reason why they can't implement class change. Might be more difficult and time consuming than race change, but they can do it. 100 %

It’s a good idea on paper until zos decides to just nerf classes harder than they already do so that people just start buying class change tokens to whichever class is the best. Last thing I want is to see a bunch of people all changing to one class. Lame

I think they do that already to make PvP'ers and competitive PvE'ers cycle through playing different classes.

If they said that - I've not seen it - then it would be a blatant lie.

Anyone with even a modicum of technical knowledge would see through that one. It's just a matter of changing database values in a table: class = 1 to class = 6. Bam, you're a necromancer.

And obviously a forced reset of skill points. Which again is not complicated and has already been done en masse to the entire playerbase after major changes.

They have NEVER said something like that. Rich said on stream that class change token is a lot harder to do(than race change token) and it's not something they want to do right now.

Even that would be a blatant lie.

Race and class are literally just 1 number each in a database for every character.

It would literally be exactly equally "difficult" (i.e. not at all) to do either.

The only additional "difficulty" associated with class is resetting skill points, which is again incredibly easy and also something they already have code in place to do both in paid respecs and free ones forced on players after major changes.

So the only reason a class change token would be "a lot harder to do" would be if their programmers are incapable of using copy and paste.
  • RecktrithiusOediphitry
Well, I guess eventually we will get class change token one day, wonder only when exactly it will happen - 6 months from now on? A year?

10k crown minimum and I could somewhat consider it. Anything less is a hard no. No other good game has ever offered this.

And? What kind of silly argument is that? 10k crowns, rotfl. Make it 20k while you are at it. :D How do you think why none other "good" game have offered CC token before?

Few hints - class specific dialogue, class specific quests, class specific gear, shared achievements.

But people want to be able to say Zos does not listen so they keep requesting the same things over and over and over again.

Honestly, I think it is more of a business reason though. Technical reasons can be overcome unless the business side says it is not a good path to follow.

Just by reading this thread you can find an information that:
a)"technical reasons" argument is a lie and Rich have said something entirely different
    b) People are requesting the same thing over and over again because of what Rich said

    ;)

I remember years ago when there was thread upon thread on forums and reddit alike about dying weapons because everyone was so sick of red colour. And back then there were also people saying "ugh, ZoS shut that door long ago, they won't do it" and quoting devs argument about "pink swords", or saying "it's rubedite so it should be red!". Well, look how it went and you will have your answer to why people are asking for it over and over again.

KeK, if ZoS really wanted to make some cash, they could sell these class change tokens for like 50k crowns.

    People would buy them, too.

I wouldn't care if players could get a one time class change for a character with a caveat. They have to have another character of that class fully leveled.
At the very least the class skills should be reset so the player has to level the class skills of the new class. None of this I know all the skills as a Templar I should automatically know all the skills when I switch to Nightblade nonsense.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
