how much is the cap for crit resist?

can anyone explain or confirm the numbers? i did research, some said it's 3500.. some said it can go to 5000+.. thanks..

Critical Hit means 50 percent more damage. 3450 crit resist fully counters it. But there are crit modifiers. Like Khajiit will hit 60 percent instead of 50 and nightblade also has some bonuses to that. Minor Savagery is another example.
