Suggestion: Inventory Sorting By Type

I didn't see a suggestions forum, if there is one please move that area.

Sorting and inventory management is really hard. I have a few add-ons to assist, but they are still missing some features. The biggest missing feature would be Sorting by type. There are already types of weapons/armor, Eg: "Axe" or "Shoulders". It would be great if the devs could look into a way to implement this. I have seen a few threads regarding this. Please ZOS if there is any way to implement this on a patch update or a big release it would be so beneficial and help with inventory woes. Thanks all!

You're going about that all wrong. You should start by saying you have a suggestion for the crown store, and the suggestion is to sell UI improvements for crowns. The work is already done by the people who make and maintain add-ons on PC. Pure profit!

The people making add-ons I give them mad props. The amount of work, time dedication to put in for a game they play and don't make a cut from it is amazing. Believe me if that was an option for crowns to buy some add-ons I would in a heartbeat. have some other games and would do it again. Just need one add-on or native "sort by type" my biggest gripe with inventory.

I intended my reply to be clearly sarcastic, bitter and resentful of ZOS' complete inability to act on reasonable UI improvement requests in the last 5 years. That you took it seriously and showed willingness to pay for said improvements - which is your right - reinforces my conviction that we get the game we deserve as a community of players. There is always someone willing to pay for pixels and skins and crates and what have you. The result is a thriving cash store in a game plagued with issues. /rant

I'm on Xbox, so I may be missing something here, or have misread opies post, but... we already have this?

You think inventory is hard on the PC? Try it on the PS4. I think we have the sorting you want, but it is still quite ponderous and at least one view had multiple areas for the same armor type IIRC.

I have no problem paying for a community hard work. Skins and the like do nothing for me. Yes it's cool looking, and yes a way to help support your game but functionality please. I have no problem donating to an add-on creator. The time and effort alone is worth a burger and beer. The community makes the game for sure.

I played a little on console. I do remember it being tough. I'm sorry, I feel your pain. I hope we see some UI improvements for PC/consoles in some areas.

On console we do already see things grouped by item area. I.e. Staves, rings, necklaces etc. So unsure how it is on PC.

What would be good though is the basic sort functions you get in excel. I.e. Sort by name so all your sets appear together in your bank etc.

In the guild bank you can already sort by price, so the mechanic is there.

As for the guys giving you sarcasm. I'd flash pay crowns for a better game. I'd gladly pay for a bug fix, QOL improvements Chapter. £20 to sort the game we love is hardly anything

I *already* pay for a better game. I paid for the base game and early access. I paid for the Morrowind and Summerset "chapters". I've paid for some 3 years' worth of subscription out of the last 5 years (the 2 years missing were a break I took from the game because I got fed up with the same issues that are still present now, but I've returned due to lack of better alternatives).

What I haven't paid is for a single crown, nor will I ever. I was against the crown store, I am against the crown store, I believe it has made the game worse than it was and far worse than it could be. So no, I would not pay even more than I do now for basic, common-sense improvements that the community has requested from day one and to some extent addressed through add-ons.

I use autocategory. It's a bit of a mouthful to set up, but it does let you break stuff up like this. Though, I use it to filter sets together, rather than by slot.
