Saw this mentioned as part of another thread and thought, "hellz yeah!" Would love a bestiary to peruse all the creatures we encounter, including bosses that we have encountered. To include a brief description of them such as place of origin, etc..

That would actually be really awesome.

The bestiary in the Witcher 3 was one of my favorite things about the game. That would be great if they could include something similar in ESO.

Rather than a beastiary, I would like my pet to run wild in my psijic villa.
My cats and dogs running around, occasionally fighting, like cats and dogs.
My wolf pets chasing the chicken I baught and left loose in the villa.
Or the guar, trying to catch the flying contraption from clockwork city, the dovadragonfly something.

Not that I don't support support your idea, but start your own thread on that topic.

I wouldn't - I gave away 2k+ books two years ago to step-granddaughter. Too much to dust, and I have an e-reader, so who needs hardbacks? Or even paperbacks....

Hmm... Something similar to the outfit display tab. Every creature gets a slot and when moused over a tool tip appears with more information. When that creature is killed, more data is available in the tool tip. When that creature's monster trophy is obtained (if ever) then the icon goes from grey'd out to full color just like the outfits do when motifs are learned for the first time.

Because the older I get the more I realize that - things - aren't important. As in 2000 + books taking up space and.... the DUST....

Give the physical books to those who can use them. There's no need at all for anything beyond the words.

Seriously. Any book is - the message. That does not depend on a physical presence. Far from it. The message is - non physical....

This idea tickles my lizardly brains in a good way. It wouldn't even have to have any rewards tied to it. Just pokemon-esque style of codex with entries about the encountered creatures with maybe special tabs about named creatures of that type. (bosses)

The good thing about a beastiary is: it gives something more to the achievers and explorers. It makes you wander around just because you want your beastiary to be filled with entries.

I'd be all over that. I remember those old D&D books from the 80s. I never played but I had a couple of them that I read to bits for all the beasties... ah memories :D

...ow my soul :# I tried to do the e-reader thing. Hard. But nothing I read that way lasted. Words that were meant to be savored faded away like mere data blips.

Pages have a presence that makes words feel immortal. They hold more than ink-- they hold memories for generations. Long after ereaders and ebook formats become obsolete, physical books will hold the essence of the human soul. They are our transcendence.

Never mind :D My mom is really into ebooks these days-- a generational thing?

And if we have a bestiary which also tracks how many creatures of a certain type we killed ... why not get a pet of a certain type once a certain number is reached? Kill, say, 1000 wolves to get a wolf, for example. If there are more colors, get a differently-colored one after the next 1000 are killed. And have all those pets have their own page in our bestiary.

Most ideas on gaming forums range from "mildly horrible" to "have you recently suffered a traumatic brain injury?". This idea does not fit within that range.

I doubt it will ever happen, but excellent idea.
