PC EU game crashed and is trying to re-download?

I was just in the game, and I had a crash, after which my launcher displays a 'PatchManifestError_DownloadFail' message and the game seems to want to download again. I have had this issue before and had to end up reinstalling the game, but this usually only happens to me when there is a major update, so I have no idea why it is doing this right now? I REALLY don't want to spend my day downloading and installing the game again tomorrow
