Me and various people in Steam still having the same problem, eternal login or eternal loading, sometimes I can pass Character Screen but after the game give Eternal Loading.

I do everything possible like firewall, dns, cache, addons paste, but not fix this, this problem is on steam and we can do nothing.

We work all the week expecting to play and in the weekend we dont have the game that we pay.

Unfortunately, as you said, this issue is with Steam. The overall quality of that service has dropped severely in the last few years and ZOS doesn't swing a big enough stick to make them change.

That said, as unpleasant as it may be, you can contact ZOS customer support, and request they disassociate your account from Steam. However, you will need a new base game code (so, if you can grab one while it's 10 bucks somewhere, that'd be ideal.)

I hate saying, "pay them more money to fix it," but Steam is content to ignore the problem, and there is a way out. I'm sorry that I don't have a better option to offer.

I play through Steam and I don't have those issues so what makes you think it is Steam's fault?

Because in Brazilian comunnity at least, the non steam users are playing and streaming fine, and the steam users are complaining even in streams. So it's make me think that is steam fault.

And when i go to eso64.exe the process run fast and fine, he try to connect for 2 seconds and say that i'm a steam user so I cant use the non steam eso, so If i run the steam ESO login dont connect for minutes not a signal.
  • Nave_Horsespitoon
I go through steam and the only problem I have is when Steam occasionally crashes after many hours of playing. It takes some time to quit the program as well. But really that is it. It works reasonably well for me.

Steam inserts an extra login server into the mix. When that server goes down, ESO players who purchased through Steam are hung out to dry.

Normally, it's not a binary thing, the server will overtax itself, and then some Steam users can log in while the majority cannot.

The only real solution is the one I listed. Take your ESO account, and get it separated from Steam.

They already fixed the Steam login issue at least half a dozen times last year. What more do you want from them?

Define the meaning of "fixed" and how it applies to the 4826 replies on the "ESO and THE login problem - we need to say something" steam forum post as well as in the above links, which overwhelmingly has users going from 18th June through to today saying that they are having connectivity issues to ESO through Steam.

"What more do you want from them?" - To fix it properly.

This is the only game on Steam that I play that I have such issues with.

In my own experience, I have only personally started having this issue in the last 4-5 days. Right after the last maintenance.

I think you expect too much from a billion dollar multinational corporation that's ran like a garage band.

Another real solution would be to find the root cause and correct the problem rather than just let it fester. That's typically what the normal reaction is to problems would be rather than avoiding them.

It's in their own best interest. People can't logon, they don't sub, they can't access the in game store and make bucket loads of more money. Seems like no good reason not to fix it other than stupidity.

So if I buy a non-steam copy of the base game I can have my entire account with all upgrades migrated off Steam? Can someone confirm this?

I can confirm this. I originally bought the game on Steam and got fed up with all of the issues. I ended up buying the game off the ESO website for $10 and now I'm much happier. There's no transferring over stuff like from one account to another, you will just be using your profile name as your login instead of going through Steam and yes you will have all of your account items, etc. as you did on Steam.

Your welcome. Once you purchase the game from the website you can then launch the game from "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher\Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe" The patch screen should say Bethesda and not Steam anymore in the bottom left corner. This is how you can tell that you are using the correct launcher.

Thanks for the info, I ponied up the $19 its at to get out of the steam hell. I looked before reading this and just ran the game without a launcher, then after rechecking this post and seeing your guide I found the Beth launcher. Appreciated.

The problem here is, Steam really does not care. The dev team cares, but it's hardware, and software, they have no control over. They can't route around it, (presumably) because of contractual obligations for getting the game on Steam. So, the only way to get around their systems is to make sure you have a non-Steam account.

Read my previous 2 posts. There is no "transfer" that is happening as all of your account info, items, upgrades, etc. are saved on a ZoS server regardless if you use Steam. You are just changing the way that you are logging into the game. If you try to use the Bethesda launcher instead of the Steam one without purchasing a non-Steam version of the game, you will get an error saying that you have to log in via Steam. The only thing that took me a bit to figure out was that your login ID is actually your profile name (the @....... that appears after your character name in game) and not your Steam name.

Not as long as you have a non-Steam version of the game as well. My @ name is still linked to Steam as well on the ESO account settings but I am able to play not logged into Steam via the Bethesda launcher.
