Yes, I'm not one to worry about meta at all - don't chase it, never have. As long as my characters can kill what they have to kill, I'm good. That can be a bit dicey sometimes, since my ping is so bad.

I don't chase meta. I role play. So "best" in my mind is very different from "best" in yours.0 -

My bosmer cos they look cool and are mega tree huggers. I can relate.
My altmer more for performance. I like elves and do play them a lot generally speaking but not totally in love with their appearance. I like that they're tall but I never managed to get their faces to look great. Alinor has turned me a bit off them too. The Summerset landscape is beautiful but the architecture and motifs aren't elven to my eye.
My dunmer partly because I enjoyed Morrowind (single player), partly because I do know how to make them look awesome, and a combination of performance and coolness in the case of vamps. Their fire resistance passive counteracts that downside to vamping and they're the only race I've been able to make look spectacular as a vamp. And ESO's Morrowind - which I haven't finished yet - seems pretty decent.
The others partly for coolness and partly just to give myself some variety.

Then, once I'm leveled, if I choose to partake of Endgame I'll find a build that works for that character and my play-style.
The numbers and rote memorization and execution of a rotation mean absolutely nothing to me without the substance of characterization.0 -

VDoom1✭✭✭✭✭Cool / FlavorI'm not really one who picks a race because of buffs. I've always liked playing as an Imperial, and Imperial Dragonknight sounds pretty dang awesome. Especially considering the Dragonborn Emperors, Amulet of Kings from Akatosh. Just so much well...dragon stuff.
I get an idea in my head like badass Dunmer Nightblade or Nord Ice Warden and roll with it. My gut decides.

I make 2 orcs cause I thought they looked cool and are not meta and were underrated on passives, I also make argonian warden before argonian tank was meta, now I use him as tank or healer. I made 2 bosmers cause I though they fit the roles I wanted to play a good PvE and PvP race specially on night blades. I make Altmer magsorc and Maplar cause well altemers and magicka. I made dark elf magblade and magdk cause of meta tbh and they also fit the class and I made an imperial stamplar at first cause I bought imperial edition, but then changed to khajit then redguard for meta0
