Accidentally decon'ing your items because you were wearing something else? Fortunately it was only trash gear that I looted. Haven't even hit CP yet.

Am I part of the club yet? :3

I crafted and golded out a complete set of gear before realizing I forgot to do a trait when crafting it. That one hurt.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Major ouch. Bad enough the time I was doing a Master Shield Writ and forgot the trait, and it was a Legendary one.... not as painful as your oops though!

When I started playing one of my friends told me to be sure I locked all my gear... so, thankfully, this hasn't been a problem for me.

You can lock your gear so that you don’t deconstruct it or accidentally sell it.

    This.
It doesn't even show up in the decon list this way.

Wow. The things you don't know. Gonna have to take a look at that! Of course, that wouldn't likely keep me from selling a stolen item I meant to launder.... which of course is gone forever.... unless you can lock stuff like that too?

You cannot, but I found that always starting with laundering instead of selling greatly helps

Ouch, i had the same once. It was the only time i ever goldened out a gear set i crafted. When i was ready i also realized woopps... no trait. I deconed after i accepted my loss (1-2 mins that took me).

Sadly, if i had kept the gear i could now use the transmutation station haha.

And yes, i also deconned stuff on my alt and then realized it was gear i wanted to keep but forgot to lock it when it was put in my bank.

Yep' just glad it happened now, and not when I've got expensive CP160 gear...

I'm making extensive use of the lock function now lol.

i was half asleep and sold like 30 monster sets to a vendor.

the only reason i even noticed was the next day i sold something i needed to buy back and saw 8 monster helms in the buy back list.

so the rest all went to the ether.

I've done both of these as well - deconned something I meant to keep and crafter gear without a trait. I'd also like to add: getting so wrapped up in making sure I haven't forgotten a trait, got the wrong style, wrong level etc. that I'm 7 pieces in to a 5 piece set before I remember I was supposed to change crafting stations.

Now I always write down what I want to craft - weight/weapon type, motif, set, level, trait and double check it all before I craft it.

IMO this is a good reason not to allow players to bypass the levelling process. That way there's more of a chance people will make these mistakes early on - it will be painful at the time (which makes it memorable) - but later on you can look back on it and think at least it was only low level gear that you messed up.

Agreed. Laundering an item you meant to sell is painful too, but at least you only lose the merchant value of the item (since you can still sell it to a normal vendor to break even), not nearly as bad as selling a rare motif or something else you wanted to keep (or sell on a guild trader).
